Recognition of the following unit of competency.
Unit of competency number:
Unit of Competency name:
CHCFC8A
Provide experiences which enhance children's development and
learning
Unit Purpose
This unit builds on and links previous knowledge about play environments, resources and
experiences with child development knowledge. The emphasis should be on planning,
implementing and evaluating learning experiences in the areas of science, maths,
technology, environment and dramatic/imaginative play based on observations of children
and knowledge of child development.
While it is important to consider experiences for children aged 0 – 12 years, the focus
should be adapted to the context of the learners work i.e. either 0-5 years or 6-12 years.
For centre based care and family day care learners the nature of provisions for children and
links to NSW Curriculum Framework will be examined.
On completion of this unit you will be able to consistently apply current industry standards
and effectively demonstrate the use of basic practices and procedures based on:




relevant accreditation principles
current programming/curriculum guidelines and standards
children's service regulations and guidelines
current research from relevant sources of authority.
