Gale Opposing Viewpoints • Date: 04/03/12 • HW: Continue to locate primary and secondary source information related to your topic • Entry Task: Log-in to your computer Graphic Organizers •Full Paper •Conflict Map Types of Causes • Geographic: to describe or write about the earth – 5 parts include location, place, human/environment interaction, movement and regions • Political: of or relating to your views about social relationships involving authority or power • Economic: a trade system of a country – the labor, land, resources and the people that produce and consume goods and services Types of Causes • Cultural: Ways of living built up by a group of people • Sociological: A study of society, human social interaction, and the rules and processes that bind and separate people not only as individuals, but as members of associations, groups and institutions • Psychological: the study of the behavior and mental characteristics of a specific individual, group, activity or circumstance Example If my topic is child labor, one factor/cause could be because developing countries do not have job opportunities or social programs to assist poor families. If developing countries had more of these opportunities the dependence on child/minors in the family to work would be minimized or eliminated. The perspective of this factor would best be described as economical.
