Phil explained that his system is being used to evaluate and advise over 300 professional athletes on their training, workout and nutrition regimens to improve performance. Most of the professional athletes in the program are baseball players, but it is expanding into other professional sports. Locally he is working with two high school programs, Marin Catholic and Menlo Atherton. His program gathers information by measuring the athlete’s strength and conditioning with a device called a Force Plate. The information gathered is then fed into a data bank at Stanford University that evaluates the athlete’s conditioning and recommends a training program to improve performance and avoid injury. An individual can to measure his/her progress against their goals and can evaluate their progress against other athletes through the use of a cell phone connection to the data bank. The athlete’s progress is monitored at Sparta’s Silicon Valley Offices, but onsite evaluations and training are also available. This service is typically provided on a yearly contract with the average cost approximately $60-$70 per person/year. The Boosters are considering starting a pilot training program for one of their varsity teams. Minutes Approved Greg Anderson requested approval of the November 4, 2013 Meeting Minutes.
