What kind of Gospel?
You're the Lion of Judah,
the Lamb that was slain
You ascended to heaven
and ever more will reign
At the end of the age
when the earth You reclaim
You will gather the nations
before You
And the eyes of all men
will be fixed on the Lamb
Who was crucified
With wisdom and mercy and justice
You'll reign at Your Father's side
There's a shield in our hand
and a sword at our side
There's a fire in our spirits
that cannot be denied
As the Father has told us
for these You have died
For the nations
that gather before You
And the ears of all men
need to hear of the Lamb
Who was crucified
Who descended to hell
yet was raised up to reign
At the Father's side
And the angels will cry:
"Hail the Lamb
Who was slain for the world,
Rule in power"
And the earth will reply:
"You shall reign
As the King of all kings
and the Lord of all lords"

In a universe created for relationship and
participation in the life of God,
What is sin?
John 17
After Jesus said this, he
looked toward heaven and
prayed: “Father, the time
has come. Glorify your Son,
that your Son may glorify
you. 2 For you granted him
authority over all people
that he might give eternal
life to all those you have
given him. 3 Now this is
eternal life: that they may
know you, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom you
have sent.

What do I have to have
to do with Adam’s sin in
the Garden?
How can it possibly
affect my relationship
with God?
Humanity is not...
Romans 5
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through
one man, and death through sin, and in this way
death came to all men, because all sinned— 13 for
before the law was given, sin was in the world. But
sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of
Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who
did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam,
who was a pattern of the one to come. 15 But the
gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by
the trespass of the one man, how much more did
God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of
the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
12
Romans 5
Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the
one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and
brought condemnation, but the gift followed many
trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by
the trespass of the one man, death reigned through
that one man, how much more will those who
receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of
the gift of righteousness reign in life through the
one man, Jesus Christ.
16
Romans 5
Consequently, just as the result of one trespass
was condemnation for all men, so also the result of
one act of righteousness was justification that
brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the
disobedience of the one man the many were made
sinners, so also through the obedience of the one
man the many will be made righteous.
20 The law was added so that the trespass might
increase. But where sin increased, grace increased
all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death,
so also grace might reign through righteousness to
bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

‘Doing’ – I sin, therefore I am
a sinner?
Or
‘Being’ – I am a sinner, therefore I
sin.

Hebrews 7
This Melchizedek was king of Salem and
priest of God Most High. He met Abraham
returning from the defeat of the kings and
blessed him, 2 and Abraham gave him a
tenth of everything. First, his name means
“king of righteousness”; then also, “king of
Salem” means “king of peace.” 3 Without
father or mother, without genealogy, without
beginning of days or end of life, like the Son
of God he remains a priest forever. 4 Just
think how great he was: Even the patriarch
Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!
1
Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who
become priests to collect a tenth from the people—
that is, their brothers—even though their brothers
are descended from Abraham. 6 This man, however,
did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected
a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the
promises. 7 And without doubt the lesser person is
blessed by the greater. 8 In the one case, the tenth
is collected by men who die; but in the other case,
by him who is declared to be living. 9 One might
even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the
tenth through Abraham, 10 because when
Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the
body of his ancestor.

John 16
5 “Now
I am going to him who sent
me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where
are you going?’ 6 Because I have
said these things, you are filled with
grief. 7 But I tell you the truth: It is
for your good that I am going away.
Unless I go away, the Counselor will
not come to you; but if I go, I will
send him to you.
John 16
8 When
he comes, he will convict
the world of guilt in regard to sin
and righteousness and
judgment: 9 in regard to sin,
because men do not believe in me;
John 16
in regard to righteousness,
because I am going to the Father,
where you can see me no
longer; 11 and in regard to
judgment, because the prince of
this world now stands condemned.
10
John 16
12 “I
have much more to say to you,
more than you can now bear. 13 But
when he, the Spirit of truth, comes,
he will guide you into all truth. He
will not speak on his own; he will
speak only what he hears, and he
will tell you what is yet to come.
John 16
He will bring glory to me by
taking from what is mine and
making it known to you. 15 All that
belongs to the Father is mine. That
is why I said the Spirit will take from
what is mine and make it known to
you.

John 16
8 When
he comes, he will convict
the world of guilt in regard to sin
and righteousness and
judgment: 9 in regard to sin,
because men do not believe in me;
How do you convince someone
they are a sinner in need of Christ?

Where’s the Turning Point?
Where’s the Turning Point?
What’s the turning point?
What is sin?
Who is Saviour?
What is
repentance?
How do you present
the gospel?
Sounds like I’m
born sick and
commanded to
be well. How is
that fair?
Amazing grace!
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught
my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers,
toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me
safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Amazing grace!
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

Buried
Those cut off from the life of God
try to seek life in all the wrong
places. Yet all our goodness and
all our will-power only mires us
deeper!
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side
which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.
Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes
shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
