Banking and Insurance in the internal market of the European Union Objectives and competences: Students will develop general competences: ability to analyze, synthesize, and provided solutions and consequences of phenomena in the banking and insurance; ability to apply knowledge in the field of banking and insurance in practice; ability to make business decisions; development of communication skills in banking and insurance; ethical conduct in banking and insurance. Students will develop course - specific competencies: theoretical basics of banking and insurance; learn about the different types of financial organizations and their connections; understand business banks and insurance companies and other financial institutions; understand the importance of banking and insurance and securities markets for the organization and individual; trained to work in financial organizations and to cooperate with them. Intended learning outcomes: Knowledge and understanding: Student will: able to identify basic concepts, learn a brief history of banking and insurance, be able to analyze the banking business, understand the specificities of banks relative to other firms and financial institutions, understand the organization of banks and insurance companies, learn about insurance technology, compare the insurance companies with other financial institutions, able to identify the basic banking products and transactions, understand their importance, able to determine the basic insurance products (life insurance, private insurance, coinsurance, reinsurance), understand their importance, understand the function of risk management at the bank's operations, its identification, tools and methods for their management, understand the purpose of integration of banks and insurance companies with other financial organizations, learn about methods of supervision of banks and insurers, identify the types of taxation of banks and insurance companies and their business, understand the concept of moral hazard, learn about the marketing of financial services, understand the way of banks and savings banks in Slovenia and the European Union and the global financial market.
