AIHA Strategic Direction Task Force
Roles and Responsibilities
During strategic planning an organization defines its overall vision and translates that into
broadly defined goals or objectives and a sequence of executable priorities to support that
vision.
The AIHA Board reviews, and updates as needed, AIHA’s strategic direction every three to five
years. AIHA’s current strategic plan was developed to provide direction for the organization
through 2015; so it is time to begin the review process.
The AIHA Board is forming a Strategic Direction Task Force to develop recommendations for
organizational goals and objectives that will be appropriate for the next few years. As part of
this process, the Task Force will gather input from AIHA members, volunteer groups, local
sections, academia, businesses and other stakeholders; and review results of environmental
scanning, market research, and member and customer need surveys. The Task Force will
receive guidance and direction from the AIHA Board and provide milestone updates throughout
the project.
The Task Force recommendations will be presented to the AIHA Board for consideration at their
meeting in July 2015.
The Task Force will be comprised of 8-10 AIHA members based on the following qualifications
and criteria:
Desired Composition of the Strategic Direction Task Force:
 Representation from early, mid and late-career professionals
 Broad-based industry sector representation (e.g. corporate, academia, consulting,
government)
Qualifications of Task Force members:
 Proven ability to think long term and strategically
 Demonstrated passion for the industrial hygiene profession
 Clear sense of AIHA mission and purpose
 Ability to think creatively and question assumptions

 Attend 1 ½ day face-to-face orientation/kick-off meeting October 2-3, 2014 at AIHA

conference calls as needed throughout the year.
 Expenses for travel to face-to-face meetings will be covered by AIHA.
