CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS/RULES:
1.) Be respectful and abide by all school rules and regulations set forth by the La Joya
ISD Student Code of Conduct (no foul language, respecting your peers, teacher, etc.).
2.) Arrive on time, be prepared, and come with all your school supplies. No food or
drinks inside the classroom.
3.) La Joya ISD prohibits students from utilizing paging devices, cell phones, and/or
iPods/mp3s while on school property. All devices will be confiscated for this policy
violation.
REQUIRED SCHOOL MATERIALS:
1.) Pencil, black or blue pen
2.) Required homework assignments
DISCIPLINE/CONSEQUENCES:
1.) Warning/Conference with Student
2.) Writing Academic Standards
3.) Phone Call to Parents
4.) Student/Teacher conference with Director (and Parents if needed and necessary)
GRADING POLICY:
The assignments for this course can be divided into the following major categories:
 Interactive Journals:
Students are expected to bring their journals every day. Journals will be checked
randomly throughout the six weeks. If a student is absent for whatever reason they
are expected to ask their peers/teacher what needs to be added to their journal for the
day that they missed.
 Labs:
Labs are a mandatory part of this class. Lab reports are required on some labs.
 Major Projects:
Research projects may be assigned throughout the year. Each project will include a
handout of details, expectations, and grading.
 Homework:

You will have various assignments for extended practice.
 Tests/ Quizzes:
You will have a weekly quiz and exams when done with topic(s).The students will be
responsible for taking the initiative of studying for their weekly and six weeks
assignments on their own.
