companion)
2. Explain the factors that have caused areas of
food deficiency and insecurity. Classify them
as:
– Environmental
– Demographic
– Political
– Social
– Economic
3. Complete the “to do” questions (a-c) on p.262.
Debate - Are economic factors
responsible for food shortages?
Two opposing viewpoints:
• Yes, economic factors are the main cause of food
shortages (although we acknowledge that some
other factors do have a part to play)
VS
• Economic factors have some bearing but there are
other factors that are more responsible for food
shortages
