Cameron H. Tousi has broad intellectual property (IP) and business
transactions legal experience, and counsels the world’s leading
companies on their most sophisticated issues. He provides clients over
20 years of breadth and diversity in industry experience.
Mr. Tousi is an experienced and nationally respected IP litigator,
representing major corporate defendants and plaintiffs. His focus is on
complex litigations, where he brings breadth in case strategy as well as
tactical advantages by virtue of his highly technology oriented
background.
In the IP counseling area, he negotiates licenses and technology transfer
agreements; analyzes infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate
issues; procures patents and trademarks; conducts IP audits and
management programs; and provides high-level strategy and
management.
His representative technologies have included telecommunications, green
and clean tech, software, hardware, semiconductors, e-commerce,
business methods, medical devices, mechanical matters and life
sciences. He has been an active member of the Litigation, Alternative
Dispute Resolution & Related Issues Committee of the ABA Intellectual
Property Law Section.
In the IP transactions area, his practice focuses on business oriented
technology solutions. He assists companies in creating, protecting,
acquiring, developing, and commercializing technology, as well as in
distributing, servicing, and marketing products and services. Mr. Tousi
represents clients on complex business transactions such as joint
ventures, distribution agreements, strategic alliances, research and
development, electronic commerce, complex procurement, endorsement,
outsourcing, and the general management and disposition of IP.
An experienced corporate attorney, Mr. Tousi also counsels clients on
financing, mergers and acquisitions, sales of assets, venture capital
investments, and other general corporate matters. Mr. Tousi has been a
member of the Private Equity & Venture Capital Committee of the ABA
Business Law Section.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Mr. Tousi has held multiple executive level positions. He served as
Director of Intellectual Property for the Telecommunications Business of
Samsung Electronics. He has also held partner and senior counsel
positions with Venable, Genus Law Group and Sterne Kessler. He cofounded and managed corporate strategy and legal affairs for a marketing
company in NASCAR.
He began his legal career as a Patent Examiner for the U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office, and previously held positions as an engineering
consultant at the firm of Booz Allen Hamilton, and software engineer at
IBM.

early stage startups, across the gamut of industries. Notable industries

contractors and nanotechnology.

Telebrands Corp. v. Hearthware, Inc., No. 2:2012-CV-02455 (D. N.J.
Apr. 25, 2012). Representation of defendant in action involving
trademark infringement under §§ 32 and 43(a) of the Lanham Act,
Common Law Trademark Infringement, Common Law Unfair
Competition and Unfair Competition under N.J State statute.

Texas Instruments Inc. v. Powerchip Semiconductor Corp., No.
1:2006-CV-02305 (S.D. N.Y. Mar. 24, 2006). Represented
Powerchip Semiconductor, one of the world's leading semiconductor
manufacturers, as defendant in a large dispute concerning a mutual
patent license agreement with plaintiff.

UTStarcom, Inc. v. Starent Networks Corp., No. 1:07-CV-02582
(N.D. Ill. May 8, 2007). Represented plaintiff UTStarcom, a global
leader in the manufacture of IP-based solutions and end-to-end
telecommunications networking in alleged misappropriation of trade
secrets, copyright infringement, and patent infringement relating to
geographically mapped telephone routing methods and systems.

