Missouri Advisory Council on Military Education Coffee Chat Minutes December 4, 2014 1. This was the first meeting of members held in this format and was facilitated through WEBEx provided by the University of Missouri, Kansas City and Alexis Petri. 2. Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Committee (MMPEC): Mr. Mike Dunbar, MMPEC, was the guest for the Coffee Chat and provided a slide presentation on what the MMPEC has been doing in the legislative arena. He stated that many of the representatives and senators were fully behind the MMPEC to support the military units and bases in Missouri under the fiscal restraints, sequestration, drawdowns, and the possibility of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) processes. The slide presentation includes What MMPEC is, Membership, Initial Assessment, Questions in Assessment, Findings: DoD Economic Impact; Impact of bases on local communities and the state, What needs to be done, and the conclusion. One of the key issues that was brought to the forefront is that there is a great need for the MMPEC and that we (as the MoACME) should have at least a liaison with the MMPEC for educational matters. Mr. Steve Tupper is working on that process at this time. It was a great presentation and Mr. Dunbar would like to have the liaison identified by the next meeting they have in February. The slides are attached for your review. 3. Items provided by participants on the coffee chat: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i. Use Military.Com as a resource for the organization.
