Compass Workshop Central Region Tech Prep Center January 7, 2015 Central Region Testing Center Overview Secondary schools in the region can test students at their local schools using regional testing center units at no cost to the district Central Region Tech Prep Center Colleges can access student scores to eliminate duplicate testing (NC State, COTC, Marion Tech, CSCC) Currently around 44,000 units for use Compass contact updates by school/district New Features of ACT Compass 5.0 Web-based test environment, no workstation install required A wide variety of examinee registration options System "heartbeat" monitor to gauge system performance Customizable course placement rules and messaging Full-service proctor dashboard screen Call Proctor for help feature to allow examinee to request help from the proctor Create custom local tests and settings Automated file import and drop off for Student Information Systems using secure FTP server and .csv file transfer Technical Requirements PC/Windows Mac Processor 1.6 GHz x86compatible Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz (only Intel-based Macs supported) RAM 512 MB 1 GB Operating System Windows XP (SP3) Vista Windows 7 Mac OS X 10.5 or higher Web Browser IE 10 and 11 Firefox 26 Chrome 32 Safari 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0 Firefox 26 Chrome 32 Recommended Screen 1024 x 768 or higher Resolution Network Speed At least 100 MBPS at school and at least 256 KBPS per student testing 1024 x 768 or higher At least 100 MBPS at school and at least 256 KBPS per student testing Updates Since our Last Meeting and after Attending the National Compass Conference Content has changed along with testing adaptivity Testing time has significantly increased Operations have changed (dashboard, admissions ticket) Score print capability has changed Cost of test packages has changed Final deadline to convert to 5.0 is August 31, 2015 Current eCompass and 5.0 can be used simultaneously however test results and reports are separate in each system New Unit Usage ACT eCompass ACT Compass 5.0 0.4 units for demographics No demographic unit cost 1.0 units per test for Math, Reading, Writing 1.0 units for each domain within Math 1.0 units each for Reading and Writing tests 3.5 units for eWrite 2.5 units for eWrite Cost per test retake: 0.5 units Cost per test retake: original unit cost of test How does this impact us? Need to review current test packages to see if they need updated before entering them into the new 5.0 system Routing rules may need updated Additional training with your test center proctors Additional staffing in your test centers?
