We thank you that in the face of every temptation and trial, every principality and power, you are present to direct and guide, to renew and revive. We praise you for sending us Jesus, your Suffering Servant, to walk before us the way of the cross, and to turn us to you and to one another. Therefore, we join your long procession of pilgrims praising you along the way: “Hosanna in the highest!” That ancient song we sing; for Christ is our Redeemer; earth let your anthems ring: O may we ever praise you with heart and life and voice, and in your humble presence eternally rejoice! [VU 123] Blessed is our brother Jesus, who, before his suffering, earnestly desired to eat with his companions the passover of liberation. On the night that he was betrayed, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said: “This is my body, which is for you. Do this to remember me.” In the same way, he passed the cup after supper saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it, to remember me.” Remembering your boundless love for us in Jesus Christ, we offer you our praise, as we proclaim the mystery of faith: Sing Christ has died, is risen, [VU 123] and Christ will come again! Sing Christ has died, is risen, and Christ will come again! 5 Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts. Make us one with Christ in his self-giving, that through us, he may: bind up the broken-hearted, comfort the mourners, open the eyes of the blind, and proclaim liberty to the captives— until justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like an overflowing stream. In this hope, and as your people, we praise you: Amen, amen, O Holy One! Hosanna and Amen! Amen, amen, O Holy One! Hosanna and Amen!
