A New Yorker by birth, Billy Collins was born in 1941. Having written several
books of poetry, he has been a finalist and winner of prizes and competitions.
His collection entitled, The Art of Drowning, was noted as a finalist for the
Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize and his book Questions about Angels was chosen
by Edward Hirsh to be in the National Poetry Series. Collins has written many
other notable books of poetry as well.
