Dear Parent/Guardian:
The Jacobs High School English Department is dedicated to increasing appreciation, independence, and critical thinking while
reading.
To that end, the Summer Reading List for the 2015-2016 school year can be found at the end of this letter. Your child is required to
read one of the novels listed for the English course that he/she will be enrolled in this fall. For all classes, your child's comprehension
and analysis of the novel will be evaluated through class discussions during the first two weeks of school in August.
Books will be available for check out at the Dundee Township Library, the Randall Oaks Branch Library, Eastgate branch, and the
Algonquin Main Library. In addition, books can be purchased at the Spring Hill Mall Barnes and Noble, Algonquin Half Price Books,
and/or online.
Additionally, Anderson Books will be selling the summer reading books in the Jacobs’ library from May 18-22 during all periods.
Only cash or checks will be accepted. Checks should be made out to Anderson’s Bookfair Company. See back for pricing.
Feel free to contact me or the Jacobs High School library with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Christian
