Golden Rule: respect yourself, others, and the environment.
Come to class on time and be prepared in your seat when the bell rings.
Follow all directions quickly and quietly the first time as well as every time.
Raise your hand and be recognized before speaking and listen while others are speaking.
Adhere to all school rules.
1. 5-subject notebook or 3-ring binder with dividers (your choice )
2. Pencils and pens—red and black or blue
3. Scientific calculator*
Algebra 2 is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced
algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex
numbers, quadratics, and includes the study of trigonometric functions. It also introduces
matrices and their properties. The skills you learn in this course will be needed throughout
higher math courses and will prove useful in standardized testing, such as the PSAT, ACT,
and SAT.
 Content Goal: Learn the Algebra 2 skills necessary to succeed in the future.
 Habits of Mind Goal: Become problem solvers by getting better at asking good
questions, thinking mathematically, and reasoning mathematically.
 Collaborative Goal: Working together with a partner or group to achieve a
common objective.
 Metacognitive Goal: Learn more about yourself as a learner and use that and your
strengths to become a better learner.

 It's very important to attend class every day. There’s a high positive correlation
between attendance and success in school. All math skills build upon another, so if
students miss a lot of classes they lose out on important material that may hinder
their academic success.
 If at all possible, don’t be tardy. Being late under normal circumstances is
disrespectful to your classmates, your teacher, and yourself, and it makes it more
difficult for you to be successful in our class.
I believe homework is a very important aspect of my teaching, when practiced daily, will
allow students to be able to fully understand deeper concepts in Algebra 2. You will be
assigned homework on a daily basis and you are to complete it neatly and to the best of
your ability by the following school day. Students will correct their homework (in pen) and
turn it in every day. LATE HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
 If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to get notes, assignments, handouts,
etc. and turn in all make-up work the day after returning to school. Check my
website!
 If a student is absent on the day of a QUIZ or TEST, and has not missed any days
including new content, it is their responsibility to be prepared to take the quiz upon
their return before school, during nutrition, lunch, or after school.
 If a student knows they will be absent for a scheduled test, it is their responsibility to
schedule a time to make up the test via communication with me.
 Unexcused absences or truancies will receive a zero on the specific assessment. *A
student that is present for ALL tests may retake their lowest grade at the end of the
semester.
Cheating of any kind will NOT be tolerated. All involved parties will earn zeros on the
assignment or assessment and a disciplinary referral will be sent to the office. The following
are examples of cheating; however, this list is not all-inclusive:
 Representing the work of others as your own (copying homework, letting someone
copy your work, etc.)
 Looking at another student’s paper during an exam or quiz.
 Sharing answers/questions during or after an exam or quiz.
 Using prohibited materials (notes, phone, etc.) on exams or quizzes.
 Sharing calculators during exams or quizzes.
