Story Podcast

Description
Reading and writing are the most important skills designed in this curricular
connection. After listening to audio podcast which relate the topics of story produced
and upload on the website by teachers, students will write a script that demonstrates a
new story in an imaginative, creative way. Next, students will create a new podcast.
Further, students will be assigned to upload their presentations and share the
presentation on the website. In this lesson, the free Web2.0 “docs.google.com” and
“www.podbean.com” will be applied. The amounts of these tutorials need to be
considered.
Goals
Students will be able to create and demonstrate a brand new theme developed in story
by applying recording technology and Web2.0 resource.

3. Students will be able to compose a dramatization of a scene from a recent reading.
4. Students will be able to apply the technology of recording and open-resource.

Using technology in education can offer interactive capabilities not found in
traditional teaching. Using Web2.0, students are able to be excited when learning
something without turning page to the next topic. It can engage students in active
learning.
Procedure:
Session 1
Warm up(15mins)
1. Display the tutorial PPT of “Google Docs Instruction” and instruct students how
to apply and use “docs.google.com”.
2. Have students apply an account for “Google Docs”
3. Have students read rubric placed on the website of “docs.google.com” and instruct
students about the direction of lesson of Story Podcast.
4. Have students listen to the audio story book (Podcast: story) by linking from the
direction on “www.podbean.com”.
Dramatize (25 mins)
5. Have students review and read the story script attached on the website.
6. Divide student to be small groups and have students discuss what structure,
content, and characters involve in story.
7. Have each group develop an outline.
Session 2
Practice (40 mins)
8. Groups develop scripts by creating or revising.
9. Help students to organize the writing structure to correspond the new topic.
10. Students practice reading after completed a new script.
*Assignment: Read the tutorial PPT of “Audio Pastcast Account Application”
attached on the “docs.google.com” and sign up an account.
Session 3
Presentation (40 mins)
11. Have group record the scripts to be an audio podcast by using Audacity (The PPT
of “Audacity Tutorial” is post on “Google Docs”, student could review it.).
*Assignment: Complete recording. (It could also take place outside the classroom)
Session 4
Wrap up (40 mins)
12. Display the tutorial PPT of “Audio Pastcast Publishing” stored on
“docs.google.com” and instructs students how to upload and publish podcast.
13. Upload the presentations to “Podbean” (or school’s website) and share on internet.
*Assignment: Publish audio podcast on “www.podbean.com” (or school’s website)
and post the “Address” linked to the podcast on the docs.google.com.
Assessment
1. Evaluate writing skill. Story structure should be clear and correspond to the topic.
2. Evaluate reading skill. Audio broadcasts should be heard clear and effective.
3. Evaluate technology skill. Web2.0 and podcast applying should be appropriate.
Extension
1. Have students elect great podcast by using Survey Monkey. (Electing could take
place outside the classroom.)
2. Assign students discuss and comment on the discussion board on the website.
(Discussion and commenting could take place outside the classroom.)
3. Have students perform their stories in the class.
4. This lesson could be lengthened when needing more time to practice and present.
5. This lesson could be shorten when assigned to work outside the classroom.
