GAMES GALORE
Equipment: 1 rope
Instructions: Have a go at this skipping challenge. Two
people are needed to turn the rope and one to skip in
the middle.
Try these skipping rhymes:
Apples, peaches,
pears and plums,
Tell me when your
birthday comes.
(The rope is turned very fast while you say the months of
the year. The skipper should ‘jump out’ on her birthday.)
Girl Guide, Girl Guide,
dressed in blue,
These are the actions you must do:
Stand to attention, stand at ease,
Bend your elbows, bend your knees.
Salute to the captain, bow to the queen,
Turn your back on the dirty submarine.
Try experimenting with actions for the second rhyme.
SAY WHAT?
Equipment: Paper, pens and pencils
Instructions: Did you know that the East End of London has
its own language? It’s called Cockney rhyming slang.
Use some of the slang from the list below and make up
your own to tell a short story.
Put a roof on yer boat = put a smile on your face
Roof tile = smile
Boat race = face
Give each of your patrol a rhyming slang version of their
name, the more funny the better!
Plates of meat = feet
Dog and bone = phone
Beans on toast = post
Adam and eve = believe
Bobby Brown = town
Apples and pears = stairs
Bended knees = cheese
Custard and jelly = telly
Belt buckle = chuckle
Scooby doo = clue
Jackanory = story
Jam jar = car
Noah’s Ark = park
Baked potata = see ya later
Bangers and mash = cash
Barney Rubble = trouble
UP IN ARMS
Equipment: large sheet of paper, coloured pens and pencils
Instructions: Design and create your own Patrol coat of
arms. You’ll need to choose a shape for it and divide the
shield into sections. Each section should represent
something to do with your patrol, such as the camps
you’ve attended, different hobbies or religions.
Make up a motto for your patrol.
