SUPERVISES:
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
BASIC PURPOSE:
Under the guidance of the FARE Program Manager, this position coordinates and facilitates
family meetings for families who have a non-detained, detained, or voluntary case with Children Services
Division. The purpose is to provide a safe and empowering environment for families to become engaged
in the development of a placement plan for their children and a case plan for themselves.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal Relationships: All YFC staff.
External Relationships: Children Services Division, Mental Health Professionals, Community
Providers, Children and Families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Maintain daily contact with Children Services Division in person and via e-mail.
*Track new detention daily.
*Schedule meetings with Social Workers and families 3-5 times per week.
*Coordinate meetings, i.e. secure a meeting room, inform social worker, public health nurses,
attorneys, Calworks, Mentor, Court, CAPIT, community professionals, foster families and
relatives.
*Staff cases with social workers prior to meeting.
*Prepare for meeting- agendas, food, pens, sign in sheets.
*Facilitate all meetings.
*Complete written summary of meeting within 1 week.
*Distribute summaries to families, social workers, supervisors, and attorneys.
*Maintain statistics regarding meetings and submit monthly.
*When requested, meet with parents prior to meeting to help them prepare for meeting.
*Present program background, purpose and procedures to staff, interns, foster parents and other
professionals through trainings as arranged by service providers.
* Understand and implement Safety Organized Practice (SOP), by using the SOP format in
facilitated meetings.
*Regular attendance.
*Other duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelors degree in Social Work (Masters Degree Preferred).
*At least 3 years experience in related field
*CPR/1st Aide Certified.
The successful applicant will be required to possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s
License or be able to arrange for personal transportation from one location to another during and
as part of carrying out duties and responsibilities of this position.

*Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
*High level of organizational and prioritizing skills.
*Knowledge of Welfare and Institutions code.
*Public Speaking
*Must be able to use a copier, fax machine and postage meter machine.
*Typing skills of at least 50wpm.
*10 key 35-40 kpm
*Displays a high level of optimism in all circumstances.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively
to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original
or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and
presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards
of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and
geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables.

This position regularly requires being able to work at close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or
less) and to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), distance
vision (clear at more than 20 feet), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen
up and down or to the left and right, while eyes are fixed on a given point.) and depth perception
(three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships) are needed.
The typical noise level in the work environment of this position is of moderate notice. On
occasion, you may be subjected to a loud noise level.
WORK ENVIRONMENT – SOCIAL
Employee shall work in a non-hostile work environment. This is, the employee is expected not to
engage in any activity that unreasonably interferes with performance of any other employee, such

As an essential function of this position, the employee must be able to handle levels of stress
satisfactorily and be congenial with other employees, clients and vendors at all times.
