Job Description
Job Title: Development Associate
Exemption Status: Exempt
Department/Location: Catholic Foundation/Bishop Moreno Pastoral Center
Primary Function: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the development associate is
responsible for working independently in the coordination of select fundraising activities and provides
administrative, technical, and organizational support for various fund raising activities including donor
relationship and database management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Support the Diocese of Tucson and the Church’s spiritual and pastoral mission
 Process gifts and post transactions to donor database
 Produce gift acknowledgements and IRS substantiation letters
 Relationship management including accurate and timely management and updates in fundraising
database including requests for donor information regarding pledge and gifts received
 Donor database management to include research, address updates and accurate recording of
related donor and gift information
 Management of donor records and database integrity
 Reconciliation of donor records and financial statements with the fiscal department
 Develop, maintain, and coordinate complex file maintenance transactions for the department
 Be able to effectively work with volunteers, donors, community partners and other constituents
 Prepare periodic financial and other reports as required by the Executive Director and/or the
Board of Directors
 Perform complex database queries and information analysis
 Assists other department members in the day-to-day operation of the Foundation as required and
perform other tasks in coordination with department staff
 Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners and the general public
 Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual
ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.
Required Activities: Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying,
and keyboarding
Basic Qualifications:

A working knowledge of, and a strong commitment to the mission of the Catholic
Church; must also be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church

Excellent communications skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal
skills
Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners and the general public
Must be a self-starter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a
sense of urgency



Maintain confidentiality of Foundation transactions; maintain and respect the privacy of
donors and persons served




Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times; ability
to travel locally as required; weekend and overtime work may be required
Proficiency in computer technology to include word-processing and spreadsheets
Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance
Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check
Education and Experience:
 High school graduate
 Four years of increasingly responsible non-profit sector experience or equivalent
 Three years experience in a fund raising environment working with donors including experience
with direct mail campaigns and donor segmentation strategies.
 Demonstrated ability and experience in developing and presenting to small or large groups
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
 Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
 Ability to use Raiser’s Edge or other donor management software
 Experience working with volunteers
 Experience with special events
