1) What are some of the ways the CMA Community Ambassador may be involved in the London

Region?

The CMA Community Ambassador will have opportunity to meet CMAs who live/work in the

London region through District Events (Southwestern Ontario District of CMAs). Event information can be followed at http://www.pdi-cma.com/member-network/districts/southwestern-ontario

The CMA Community Ambassador will also have opportunity to meet and work with Deborah

Clarke, Regional Director, Marketing with CMA Ontario. Debora h is actively involved in community and university events, career fairs and conferences, so potential exists for the

Ambassador to volunteer for these CMA marketing events as well, increasing opportunity to meet other CMA volunteers and students in the community.

2) How will the award be paid to the winner?

The award is being held by LEDC, they can pay CMA Ontario directly for programming as the recipient registers, or it can be paid direct to the recipient as a cash award.

3) When will judging happen?

Judging is expected to take place in London the week of August 7-10, with the goal to allow the award winner to register in time for the Fall Accelerated Program if he/she qualifies to do so.

The next intake of the AP will be winter (January 2013). www.cmaontario.org/accelerated

4) What are the additional costs involved in the CMA Program? a.

In many cases the $5,000 will cover costs to get the award winner to the CMA Entrance

Exam. Total fees to achieve this vary depending on the award winners current qualifications. www.cmaontario.org/fees b.

Additional costs to be expected will be the cost of the CMA Strategic Leadership

Program which follows the CMA Entrance Exam. In many cases, an employer will assist in covering the cost of the Strategic Leadership Program. i.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (after passing the Entrance Examination) ii.

Annual Membership Fee $461 + $59.93 HST = $520.93 iii.

2-Year Strategic Leadership Program $8400 + $1092 HST = $9492.00 TOTAL for two years (Includes cost of the Case Exam) ; Can be broken down into two installments EG. Year 1 $4200 + 546 HST= $4746 iv.

CMA Ontario has an agreement with BMO for a student line of credit if it is required www.cmaontario.org/financing

5) Does the award recipient need to have a university or post-secondary degree? a.

Yes, the award recipient must have a ‘degree’. However, it does not need to be a degree specifically in business.

6) Is an international transcript accepted? a.

Yes, as long as it is translated to English or French, CMA Ontario will review the international transcript for eligibility.

7) Does the degree need to be in business or accounting specifically? a.

No, the degree does not need to be in business. b.

To qualify for the CMA Entrance Exam, the recipient must have five business courses at a degree level (any missing can be taken through CMA Ontario), they are: i.

Economics, Statistics, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Canadian

Business Law *If the recipient qualifies to start the CMA program in 2013 he/she does not need the business law credit. This credit will be covered by a studyguide provided by CMA Ontario in 2013. ii.

10) Second sample of proposed timeline: a.

September 2012 – if degree was not in business, individual may be required to take required courses through CMA Ontario to qualify for CMA Accelerated Program. These courses can be taken online, with goal to qualify for January 2013 or September 2013 start of the CMA Accelerated Program. Courses available online are (Economics, Stats,

Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and soon in 2014 Canadian Business

Law). b.

January 2013 – start CMA Accelerated Program c.

August 2013 – finish Accelerated Program and start Exam prep classes online d.

October 2013 – Write CMA Entrance Exam e.

January 2014 – Start CMA Strategic Leadership Program (SLP year 1) f.

**NOTE: People who start the CMA Accelerated Program in September, and those who start in January, both finish CMA at the same time. The second year of the SLP starts in November for both streams of the program. The September group just has a longer break through the summer months.
