Robert E. Norton Named General Counsel of Hillsdale College
Hillsdale, Michigan—Robert E. Norton has been named General Counsel of Hillsdale College. He will assume
this role in early September, and will also be working in the area of planned giving, trusts and other fundraising
efforts.
Norton received his B.B.S from Walsh College, and his J.D. from the University of Michigan. Before joining
the College, Norton served as Vice President for External Relations at the Lynde & Harry Bradley Foundation
in Milwaukee, WI, where he developed the Bradley Impact Fund, the first conservative donor advised fund of
its kind. Prior to his work at the Bradley Foundation, he was assistant general counsel at Chrysler.
He has taught law at Cooley Law School, Rochester College, and Madonna College, and lectured at the
University of Michigan Law School and in its MBA program. He has been published in the Georgetown
Journal of Legal Ethics and National Review Online.
“Bob’s efforts expanded the Bradley Foundation’s ability to fulfill its mission, which includes educating
Americans for self-government,” said Hillsdale President Larry P. Arnn. “We have similar aims at the College,
and look forward to his work here.”
Hillsdale College, founded in 1844, has built a national reputation through its maintenance of a classical core curriculum and
its principled refusal to accept federal or state taxpayer subsidies. It also conducts an outreach effort promoting civil and
religious liberty, including a free monthly speech digest, Imprimis, with a current circulation of over 2.8 million.
