Summary of New Features in Oracle 11i
Navigation














Toolbar no longer a separate window.
Message area at bottom of window instead of on toolbar.
Tool name shows when mousing over a toolbar icon.
New tools added: cut, copy, paste, close form .
Tools deleted: hat, list of values, summary/detail.
Alternate regions appear as tabbed regions; all region names are visible.
Required fields have yellow background.
Many menu items formerly found under Special now listed under Tools.
To change responsibility: File > Switch Responsibility.
To open list of values: click “…” next to field.
To change password: Edit > Preferences > Change Password.
To export a file into Excel: File > Export.
To print current window, click printer icon on toolbar or choose File > Print from
menu.
Use new right-click menu to choose Cut, Copy, Paste, Folder menu, and help.
Folders


Can drag column to different location using mouse (except when using a MAC).
Can change column width using mouse.
 Single right-click on column heading opens a window that prompts you to rename
the column.
General Ledger



Enhanced drilldown capability: can view ALL details of Payables or Receivables
transactions from within General Ledger. No need to switch responsibility, then
perform separate query in the Payables or Receivables application.
Sales tax is automatically calculated and encumbered for requisitions and purchase
orders. Tax will be included in any encumbered amounts appearing in GL.
New report: SDSU Encumbrance Detail report lists all current encumbrances for the
time period and account range you specify, along with requisition number, purchase
order number, and/or invoice number.
Purchasing



Sales tax is automatically calculated and encumbered for requisitions and purchase
orders.
When creating requisition, will see new “Tax Code” field with a default value of “SD
Sales Tax”. IVC requestors will need to change the code to “IMPVA Sales Tax”.
List of values now works for Approval Path and Forward To fields of Approve
Document window; no longer need to use Ctrl-L to access list of values.

Accounts Payable


SDSU Expense Distribution report has been replaced by SDSU Payables Account
Analysis report. New report includes same data as the Expense Distribution.
Enhanced drilldown capability: can view ALL details of Payables transactions from




Toolbar Icons in Oracle 11i
Each toolbar button replicates a commonly–used menu item. Depending on the context
of the current field or window, a toolbar button can be enabled or disabled. Holding your
mouse over the button displays the name of the button.
The following table illustrates each toolbar button and the action it performs.
New
Opens a new record in the active form.
Find...
Displays the Find window to retrieve records.
Show Navigator
Displays the Navigator window.
Save
Saves any pending changes in the active form.
Next Step
Print...
Updates the Process workflow in the Navigator by
advancing to the next step in the process.
Prints the current screen that the cursor is in. In some
cases it may print a report associated with the current
data.
Close Form
Closes all windows of the current form.
Cut
Cuts the current selection to the clipboard.
Copy
Copies current selection to the clipboard.
Paste
Pastes from the clipboard into the current field.
Clear Record
Erases the current record from the window.
Delete
Deletes the current record from the database.
Edit Field...
Displays the Editor window for the current field.
Zoom
Invokes customer–defined drill–down behavior.
Translations...
Invokes the Translations window. Not used at SDSU.
Attachments...
Invokes the Attachments window. If one or more
attachments already exist, the icon changes to a
paper clip on a piece of paper.
Folder Tools
Displays the folder tool palette.
Window Help
Displays help for the current window.
