MEMORANDUM FOR ALL PERSONNEL

SUBJECT: Fundraisers on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base

1. Fundraisers on Seymour Johnson AFB will comply with AFI 36-3101, Fundraising within the

Air Force , AFI 34-223, Private Organization Program , and this policy memorandum. All requests for, except during the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and the Air Force Assistance

Fund (AFAF), on-base fundraisers will be submitted in advance of the event to 4 FSS/A1U for proper coordination and ultimate approval/disapproval by 4 FSS/CC.

2. Fundraising events in the workplace (for example, offices, the flight line, and hangars, to include the breakrooms in these areas) are prohibited during the annual CFC and AFAF, unless the proceeds will specifically benefit these campaigns. Fundraising activities away from the workplace during the CFC or AFAF may be approved on a case-by-case basis if 4 MSG/CC determines the activity does not detract from the CFC or AFAF and the event otherwise complies with AFI 36-3101 and AFI 34-223.

3. IAW AFI 36-3101, paragraph 13.3, the following on-base areas are designated as “away from the workplace” for purposes of on-base fundraising activities: the foyer area of the Base

Exchange and Commissary, Golf Course, the Chapel, the Base Theater parking lot, and the base housing areas.

4. Additionally, the following limitations apply to all on-base fundraising events: a. All fundraising events are subject to no-notice inspection to ensure health and safety and compliance with applicable regulations; b. Fundraisers will not duplicate or compete with Army/Air Force Exchange Service

(AAFES) or Force Support Squadron (4 FSS) resale activities to a degree detrimental to those activities; c. Fundraisers will not involve the sale of alcoholic beverages.
