Assistant Professor (2 positions) Texas Tech University Entrepreneurial and growing program seeks two tenure-‐track assistant professors to do cutting-‐edge research, teaching, and service to our field and society. We are the 16 tenure-‐track faculty of Texas Tech University’s Technical Communication & Rhetoric program, and we invite applications for these two positions at the rank of Assistant Professor (9-‐month) to begin August 2016. While we are looking for the best and the brightest applicants from the world of writing studies, rhetoric, and technical communication, we are especially interested in new colleagues who specialize in multimodal composition, visual rhetorics, information design, social media, distance education, digital rhetorics, and/or usability/UX. In addition, we are very interested in how these specialties are enacted in the public or social sphere. Preference will be given to applicants who hold an earned PhD in technical communication, composition and rhetoric, or a related field at time of appointment. We especially encourage candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University. Your teaching load will be a 2-‐2 for the first two years, and 3-‐3 afterwards, with further reductions available for administrative activities and graduate committee work. With around 120 students in our robust graduate program, you will have opportunities to teach graduate courses in your areas of interest and to serve on dissertation committees. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. We offer a BA in Technical Communication, an MA in Technical Communication (onsite and online), and a PhD in Technical Communication & Rhetoric (onsite and online). We also offer graduate certificates in Grants & Proposals and in Teaching Technical Communication. Our program resides in the Department of English, which offers excellent facilities, including computer classrooms, the Usability Research Lab, the Media Lab, and the Letterpress Studio.
