How to Get to the Website
• compass2g.illinois.edu
• Sign in using your netID and AD password
• The name of the Compass course is “TRAINING –
Materials Research Lab Orientation”
• Screenshots showing how to do this are on the
next few slides
• Note that the site is frequently updated, so not all
the screenshots in this document will look exactly
the same as the version you see

4: Click Go
5: Move your mouse over the “engr_mrl_train_118243” line.
Click the gray arrow that appears.

In-Person Orientation
• Please come to room 280 MRL on time.
– The room is at the top of the stairs from the front door, next to
the elevator.
• Expect to spend 1-2 hours.
– This is probably your best opportunity to ask “how things work
at MRL” questions, so feel free to bring a list of questions.
• If you can not attend the session you signed up for, email
kawalsh@illinois.edu or echaina2@illinois.edu to cancel.
• The in-person orientation, as well as Steps 1 and 2 on the
Compass site, must be completed before you can arrange
further training or instrument use at MRL.
