Training for Success

Butcher Distributors, Inc. is pleased to be offering a NATE certification review course and test. NATE, which stands for North American Technician Excellence, Inc., is the leading certification program for technicians in the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) industry and is the only test supported by the entire industry. The first NATE class and test will be held at the Landmark Hotel in Hammond, LA on November 29, 2007.

There is an enormous value to having NATE certification. NATE-certified technicians have fewer callbacks than technicians who aren’t NATE-certified. When on a warranty call, their expenses are about 30% lower than non-certified technicians and their billing efficiency is also higher than technicians who aren’t NATE certified. It’s as simple as 1-2-3: fewer callbacks, lower warranty expenses, and higher billing efficiency rate. This all translates into more profit and financial stability for you. Technicians taking the test can prove they're the best. Those who pass can wear the NATE patch, a symbol recognized by the industry.

NATE exams are multiple-choice, knowledge-based, and test what 80% of technicians have an 80% chance of encountering once yearly. There are six NATE Installation tests and six NATE Service tests; a CORE and five specialty tests in Service or Installation. Specialties include Air Distribution, Air Conditioning, Heat Pumps, Gas

Heating and Oil Heating. Candidates have four hours to complete a NATE test session

To earn NATE certification, a technician must pass both a CORE and a SPECIALTY test with a grade of 70% or higher on each. There are 50 questions on CORE tests and 100 on SPECIALTY tests. When a technician passes both a

CORE and a SPECIALTY of his choice, he/she is sent a wallet card reflecting the certifications earned or credited, a certificate for the certification earned, and a NATE patch and specialty chevron for the test passed.

WHICH TEST TO TAKE:

Heat Pump or A/C?

Certifying in Heat Pump will automatically certify you for A/C.

Service or Installation?

By certifying in Service, you will automatically certify in Installation.
