Mechanical Engineering Development Technologist

Quantum Technology Corporation is a global leader in creating custom applications for industrial gases.

For over 30 years, our products have offered solutions for the separation, purification and liquefaction of industrial gases. We specialize in helium recovery and liquid helium systems. We are expanding our team due to increasing demand for our products and are looking for a full time Mechanical Engineering

Development Technologist to join our friendly team in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.

1. Employment

The employee agrees that he will at all times faithfully, industriously, and to the best of his/her skill, ability, experience and talents, perform all of the duties required of this position. In carrying out these duties and responsibilities, the employee shall comply with all employer policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

2. Position Title and Responsibilities

In the role of Mechanical Engineering Development Technologist, the employee is required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner.

(e) custom engineering solutions tailored to their specific requirements.

The employee shall be required to travel internationally to assist customers in the installation and operation of equipment.

The employee shall prepare technical proposals, quotations, drawings and calculations to provide customers with specific solutions.

The employee shall initiate, design, plan and manage engineering projects.

(f)

The employee shall carry out analysis of research data and prepare research reports as well as participate as a member of a research or development team in the design and development of experimental and industrial instrumentation and procedures.

The project manager shall assign, coordinate, and review the efforts of contract staff on project

The employee shall write and review technical reports, manage project procurement, organize, update and attend weekly project meetings in a timely manner.

The employee may participate directly in the design, development, and inspection of technical projects, or in the theoretical or applied scientific work of the company.

The employee may consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain

(j) proposals, or present scientific and technical reports and findings.

Additional duties may arise from time to time and may be assigned to the employee. Significant changes in these duties and/or assignment of additional duties shall entitle the employee to a review of the terms of employment.

3. The ideal candidate shall possess prior experience of at least five (5) years in at least one of the following areas:

Implementation of thermal and thermodynamic calculations of cryogenic cycles including helium systems;

2. Cryogenic equipment design calculations for:

Heat exchangers;

Compressors;

Expanders (piston/turbo);

3.

Operation and maintenance of cryogenic equipment and installations (mechanical breakdown, various leaks, etc.) for:

Helium systems (liquefaction, purification, recovery);

Gas separation and purification systems;

 Compressors (piston or membrane);

Purifying and drying units;

Vacuum equipment;

Valves and fittings.

4.

Installation, supervision and commissioning of equipment.

5.

Design of cryogenic equipment by use of CAD programs, optimization of cycles in process equipment.

6.

Design of commercial proposals, presentations and contracts.

7.

Design of experimental facilities.

4. Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Cryogenics Sciences, or related discipline.

5. Languages:

Must be able to speak and write English at a minimum; French and other European languages are a plus.

6. Wage:

Salary range is $25-$40 per hour.
