(One or two additional sectionals winds and brass may be scheduled at mutually agreeable times if needed.)
The Concerto Competition will be held on Friday, November 14. An accompanist will be provided. Registration sheets
and competition guidelines will be available in the Music Dept. Office, Crowley Hall, by September 9. ND/SMC
orchestra members sophomore and up (excluding past winners) are eligible. The winner(s) will join the orchestra as
soloist(s) in the Spring of 2015.
January 2015 Tour: Monday 1/5—Sunday 1/11. Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri. 100.00 per person charge if traveling
on group flight Chicago-Houston on 1/5. Please reply to forthcoming e-mails as requested.
Member Responsibilities
1. Show up to rehearsal. 2. Practice.
You will be allowed one rehearsal cut for personal or academic reasons per concert rehearsal segment (three per
year); please do everything possible to avoid using them during a concert week. You must notify me 2 HOURS BEFORE your
missed rehearsal by e-mail or phone no later than two hours before the rehearsal you intend to miss. Any other absences will
be treated as unexcused, subject to the above penalties. Excessive tardiness (=more than twice) may incur the same sanctions.
We will start promptly, tuning at the listed time. Please be in your seat warmed up and ready to play by then. Please
bring your orchestra instruments to the PAC PRIOR TO MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL as appropriate, Wind/Brass-you may warm up in the Penote rehearsal hall, but please come into rehearsal at your appointed time. All: please help clear
the stage at the end of each rehearsal.
Concert attire: All black (In addition to formal concert attire, slacks/shirt are OK for both men and women).
I will enroll freshmen through the First Year of Studies. Non-freshmen: the deadline for enrollment is 5 PM
Wednesday if you want transcript notation (S/U grading) of the course.
