Objectives: At the conclusion of this presentation participants should be able to: 1) discuss the genetic risk for
schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; 2) identify neurocognitive precursors in children, adolescents, young adults at risk
for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; and 3) discuss the issues involved with screening children and young adults at
risk and implications for prevention.

Objectives: At the end of this presentation audience members will be able to: 1) recognize the prevalence of parenting
concerns amongst medically ill patients; 2) identify key factors that support child emotional health when a parent is
seriously ill; and 3) describe practical recommendations for parent guidance when a parent has cancer.
