Hennepin County Emergency Assistance Program (HCEAP)
Emergency programs provide short-term, one-time assistance for people in a financial crisis
because of a variety of concerns, such as fire, flood, utility shut-off, eviction, or foreclosure.
HCEAP meets the short-term emergency needs of eligible families with children. The family
must have an emergency that poses a direct, immediate threat to the physical health or safety of a
child, like the need for shelter.

Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) helps people in medical emergencies who otherwise are
not eligible for medical coverage programs due to immigration or state residency status.

If you need food right now, Minnesota Hunger Partners and the Minnesota Food Helpline
(1-888-711-1151), a program of Hunger Solutions Minnesota can help you find a food shelf,
food bank, or meal. You may also apply for Expedited Food Support which makes benefits
available quickly to households unable to meet their food needs. If you are eligible, benefits will
be issued within 24 hours of your interview.
