PSEO Career and Technical Option—starting in 10

th

Grade

The Post Secondary Enrollment Options - Career & Technical Education (PSEO-CTE) program allows 10 th

– 12 th

grade high school students the opportunity to earn college credit and use those credits toward the completion of high school graduation requirements. PSEO-CTE students can take ONE approved course per semester at a MNSCU school.

Eligibility for PSEO-CTE (Career & Technical Education) - one course

 High school sophomores, juniors, or seniors.

 Students must have passed the 8th grade MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment) reading exam--score is listed as Meets or Exceeds.

A student who first enrolls under this provision while in 10 th

grade and wishes to enroll in general education courses as an 11 th

or 12 th

grade student must take the system Assessment for

Course Placement and achieve the required scores prior to enrollment.

Students must provide their own transportation to and from the college and maintain the daily schedule at CPHS. Schedules are adjusted to reduce classes taken at CPHS by one period-students cannot be in 5 classes at CPHS AND attend a college course (more than a full time student).

College schedules and high school schedules do not match; it is challenging to schedule one class at a college and also attend the necessary amount of classes at high school.

Career and technical courses are also available at STEP for 10 th

grade students. These courses would allow for earning credit at Anoka Technical College if the student meets the above requirement.
