Accomplishments
FLAGS Advising Records (in progress)

In Progress: Integration and display of IU-FLAGS data and tools for following up with flagged
students. Comprehensive integration of all information an advisor needs to manage students’ needs
and progress to degree, and to keep a contact history,
SIS Academic Planner

June 2012: integrated Academic Planner enhancements, include ability for a student to submit a
snapshot of the Planner to academic advisor, and for the advisor to comment on that snapshot

August 2012: integrated Academic Planner enhancements, ability for students to use courses in their
Planner when running what-if AARs
Academic Advisement Report

February 2012: Ability to schedule and print batch academic advisor reports; Batch report with
electronic store improves degree certification process and eliminates need to store paper copies for
accreditations

March 2012: Improved reporting options for research in how students are meeting requirements

September 2012: Students have the option to populate the What If AAR with planner data.
SIS / PDP Integration

September 2012: Direct link for instructors to view a student’s Planner without additional
authentication. A view was created in SIS that can be accessed from the PDP in Oncourse but which
does not permit navigation elsewhere in SIS to improve student usability. Access from SIS to the
student’s PDP. Will allow advisors who are not instructors to view the student’s PDP work.
CRM




August 2011/May 2012: Migrated IU East and IU Southeast Admissions from Hobsons to Talisma
March 2012: Generic Suspect Upload - facilitates loading suspects in CRM
June 2012: Enrolled Student - implemented enrolled student interface to populate a limited set of
attributes for enrolled students
July 2012: Event Pilot launched for IUPUI Undergraduate which includes ability to track and sign up
for campus daily tours at IUPUI.
Streamline Admissions Processing
Address Verification

February 2012: Implemented on-line address verification in SIS
Onbase Admissions Imaging Project

June 9th: Upgrade current IUPUI OnBase software to version 11

September 2012: Implement OnBase/SIS integration for limited data set; avoids duplicate data entry
Admissions Application Projects

January 2012: Extensive graduate application enhancements including eApp Coversheet; ability to
batch print applications

March 2012: IEP application completed

April 2012: ACP/SPAN admissions application specifications completed

June 2012: First half of eApp application maintenance in place for August 1 undergraduate and
graduate applications admissions cycle, including implement IUSE GR Business.

September 2012: Second half of eApp annual maintenance in place for undergraduate and graduate
applications.

Future: Keep admissions application available during the SIS release downtime on December 1st and
subsequent releases; implement ACP application.

Student Activities (My INvolvement)

February 2012: Implemented My Involvement with the following functionality: eDocs with routing
and approval to request a new organization, to re-register an existing organization, and to request an
event. Ability to promote an event, RSVP to an event, post event to OneStart calendar, and track
attendance at an event; Assign tasks to organizations, student leaders, organization members; Post
news items for all student organizations or individual ones; and Search for organizations based on
keywords, match organizations to personal interest.

Spring 2012: Bloomington, IUPUI, Southeast live on system

August 2012: Implemented My Involvement for the IU Southeast campus.

September 2012: Implemented My Involvement on the Columbus, East, Kokomo, and Northwest
campuses.

Future: Finalize Forms Builder functionality.
Student Record

August 2012: Ad Astra Upgrade to long-awaited 7.4 version for East, Kokomo, Northwest, and
Southeast campuses (Bloomington, Indianapolis, and South Bend campuses will upgrade in
September)

August 2012: PERC (Post Enrollment Requisite Checking) - Implemented the use of this new
functionality as part of a pilot project with the IUPUI Math department.
Process for Academic Program Review and Evaluation (PAPRE)

May 2012: Project team has met and established objectives, scope, and roles for the project.

August 2012: Identified initial set of high-level deliverables and set development priorities;
programming to begin Fall 2012

Future: Code and test new application.
eTextbook

Feb 2012: Deployed functionality that allows Textbook Coordinators to initiate requests for eTexts;
implemented a publisher database with eText data to be validated when requests are submitted.

August 2012: Allow eText submissions when no instructor is listed in the Schedule of Classes. Allow
multiple actions: Add New, Modify Pending/Approved, Delete Approved; allow submission of eTexts
at the course level rather than just at the class level.

September 2012: Students can search for classes by Course Attributes; extended the eDoc initiation
beyond the textbook coordinators to the faculty.
Financial Aid Loan Exit Counseling Enhancement

September 2012: New SIS functionality was added to derive academic load to improve the process
for IUPUI and IU Bloomington who are required to perform loan counseling beginning with Fall 2012.
The new load data is being utilized for federal enrollment reporting and the FISAP, insuring the same
values are used by all three processes. Use of a single source will minimize maintenance when new
load exceptions are needed.
