The Mighty: Debate - Oral Assessment Task
Your task is to organise a debate between two sides around one of the following
topics:

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again because determination pays off.
I will allocate the groups.
Each group must have a positive and negative team, who will argue for or against
their selected topic.
Speakers must make a 3-minute speech arguing their case. Speakers should work
together to beat the opposite site. For Example: The first speaker outlines their main
arguments and the second or third speaker introduces different arguments and also
rebuts (destroys) the opposition’s argument.
Each speech must:
 Use examples from “The Mighty”.
 Make some reference to characters in the film.
 Refer to the key themes of the film.
This is an assessment task that will be assessed on an A-E basis. Speakers will be
assessed on the following criteria:
