followed by the audience. The speakers are effective and engage the audience.

Begins with a strong and clear summary; presentation is laid out logically, very easy to see where group is
going. Speakers understand the material and are practiced.
Good
Some sense of what’s ahead is given, but not completely clear; although there is a structure for the
presentation, some parts are not explained well and/or not connected well to the overall framework. Some
speakers are ineffective.
Adequate
The introduction is somewhat sketchy; it is difficult at points to understand where the group is going.
Speakers appear to be unprepared.
The presentation has a strong analytic base (40 points)
The group is clear about what questions are being asked and answered; this is not just a collection of facts to be
communicated, but a set of arguments about causes and effects; the thrust of the presentation is to explain rather
than simply to describe.
