Jan 1...Snowed. We worked on puzzles. Made fudge.
Jan 2...Back to school. We worked on the upstairs. I made soap.
Jan 3...Windy & dirty. I felt bad. Patched.
Jan 4...Nice day. Tommy Laird was here. We butchered a hog. Sold him ½.
Jan 5...Windy. We went to Greeley, sold cream and eggs. It snowed hard. Got
me a pr. of red shoes.
Jan 6...Cold. I mopped and made a cake.
Jan 7...(Sunday) Warmer. We went to SS with Erlene and to Harry’s & pumped
water, and to Charley’s.

Jan 8...We doctored Bubbles’ eye. I mopped & cleaned. Shirley & kids were
here.
Jan 9...We worked on the N.W. part of the upstairs and N.E. too. Put up some
wallboard.
Jan 10...All went to Ault to John Deere Day, to a sure swell day.
Jan 11...Cloudy. I washed. Doyle went to a sale.
Jan 12...We went to Nunn & Pierce and Ault and got Ma a birthday present. Nice
day.
Jan 13...Cold. I patched & mopped & made a cake. Doyle & Ken went to Nunn.
Jan 14...(Sunday) Doyle took the kids to SS. Awful windy. Buchanans were
here. H & S were here for supper.
Jan 15...Nice day. I patched.
Jan 16...We took eggs to Pierce. Went by Cozads.
Jan 17...We fixed a pen and moved Rosa. Bobbie stayed home. We went to
Farm Bureau with Buchanans.

Jan 18...We took 3 hogs to Hoovers. Sold cream, got groceries.
Jan 19...Nice till noon. We went to Mrs. Dollie W.’s funeral. It snowed hard in the
p.m.
Jan 20...Cold and windy. We took Bobbie to Ault & got a tooth pulled.
Jan 21...(Sunday) We got ready to go to SS. Doyle helped Hobarts cow. We
went after a paper, never got one.
Jan 22...Awful windy. We worked on the upstairs all day.
Jan 23...Windy. We took Hobarts stuff home. We worked on the upstairs.
Jan 24...Fair day. I washed. We took eggs and got groceries & got mail.
Jan 25...Nice day. We screened spelts. I went to school assembly with Hawkins,
came home on bus.
Jan 26...Nice day. We ground feed. Went to Greeley & got sewing stuff and
groceries & insulation.
Jan 27...Snowy & cold. I cleaned house and they worked on the upstairs.
Jan 28...(Sunday) 23 below. Snowed all day. We played dominoes, made a cake.
Too cold to go to SS.
Jan 29...Snowy. We got the truck started. Doyle went to Ault. I cut out Gladys’s
Xmas dress.
Jan 30...Rosa had her pigs last night. 4 froze. Saved 3. Cold & snowy.
Jan 31...Cold. We screened up some oats. I finished Gladys’s Xmas dress.
Feb 1...Sun shone. I cleaned house. Doyle went to Nunn.
Feb 2...We went to Greeley and got license. Called Phyllis brot the Plymouth
home.
Feb 3...Doyle & I went to Pierce and sold eggs & to Nunn. Got mail.
Feb 4...(Sunday) We stayed home. Played dominoes. Made ice cream. Made
Ken a lazy dazy cake.

Mary’s dress. Went to Heplers.

ironed after supper.
Feb 7...Doyle & K went to a sale. I worked on Mary’s formal all day. We went to

Mary’s dress after supper.
Feb 9...We went to Nunn & Pierce. Screened oats, ground feed. Fixed hog
house, moved hogs. I ironed.
Feb 10...Doyle & Kenneth went after the combine & binder. I cleaned house.
Doyle took the kids to the dance. H & S were here.
Feb 11...(Sunday) We went to SS with Erlene. Lila & Ray and Charley & Lula
were here.
Feb 12...Rainy and snowy. Ken stayed home – sore throat. I patched sox.
Feb 13...Snowed last nite. We worked on the upstairs all day. Mary stayed with
Beverly.
Feb 14...We worked on the upstairs. Went to Nunn & Pierce, got groceries.
Heplers were here after supper.

Feb 16...We went to Greeley. At dinner at Lila’s. Sold cream. Came back by
Stackarns. Saw their baby.
Feb 17...Nice day. I cleaned house. Made Doyle a cake.
Feb 18...(Sunday) Doyle took the kids to SS. Nice day.
Feb 19...Cold & windy. I washed. Machine went hay-wire. Doyle fixed.
Feb 20...The sow had pigs. We hauled corn fodder and ground feed. I finished
ironing after supper.

got groceries. P.O. shut up.

basketball game.
Feb 24...Nice day. We went to Nunn & to Pierce. I made pies. Mopped.
Feb 25...(Sunday) Doyle took the kids to SS. Marilyn was here. We went to
Sarah’s, went for a ride. It snowed.
Feb 26...Frosty & cold. We went to Ault to get parts. Saw Harold.
Feb 27...Doyle got a load of spuds. I went to the assembly program. Rode home
on the bus.
Feb 28...I washed. Fair day. Doyle went to Nunn. I sewed some.

Mar 3...Doyle took me to the bus. Denver by 9:30, out to Ma’s by 3. Ollie took us
out to see Daddy.

Daddy. Came home on the bus.

Charley’s. No one home.
Mar 12...I washed. Doyle went to a sale. We went to the Negro Minstrel.

Mar 14...We went and measured the granary, butchered a hog. Weight 350.
Mar 15...We cut up meat. Doyle took hams in. He brot the steel granary home.
Mar 16...Awful windy & dirty. We went to Greeley, got material and patterns.

Mar 17...Snowy. Put chicks out in the tubs. Cozads were here. Hazel & Harry
were here.
Mar 18...(Sunday) Doyle took the kids to SS. Marilyn came. Wolfs came to get
me to be PTC treasurer.
Mar 19...Took care of chicks. I made part of Gladys’s Easter dress. Doyle went to
town & to 14.
Mar 20...I made Gladys’s dress. We made nest boxes.
Mar 21...I sewed on Mary’s dress. Hawkins came after pigs. We went to the
Sinclair show.
Mar 22...I worked on Mary’s dress most of the day.
Mar 23...Windy. We went to Greeley, took Kenneth to the Dr. I finished Mary’s
dress. Made Gladys’s slip.
Mar 24...I cleaned house all day. Doyle went to see Gene & (???) Windy.
Mar 25...(Sunday) We went to SS and on to Harold’s for dinner. Nice day.

Mar 26...Swell day. I put the chicks out. Done a big washing.
Mar 27...We cleaned out brooder house. Ironed for 2 hrs. after supper.
Mar 28...Windy & snowy. We went to Nunn & 14 & Pierce. We worked all
afternoon on the brooder house.

out of Turners.
Mar 30...Doyle went to 14. Art was here awhile. I made litebread & cleaned

Apr 1...(Sunday) We went to SS with Erlene. Art were here for dinner. We went
to Buchanans after Mary.
Apr 2...Doyle went to 14. Bubbles and Boots both had their calves. Harold &
Shirley were here for supper.
Apr 3...I scrubbed woodwork, washed windows. We went to Pierce & got chick
feed & groceries. Mary stayed at Marilyns.
Apr 4...We raked & hauled 2 loads of hay from Harry’s. Went to PTC. I lost the
treasury money. Found it.
Apr 5...Rainey. We went to see Earlene about the PTC fund. Worked on the pig
fence.
Apr 6...I washed. It rained several times. Went to Storkams & to Nunn.
Apr 7...Mary & I went to the spelling contest. He brot us home. Went to Stockams
& brot Pontiac home.
Apr 8...(Sunday) We went to SS with Earlene. Marilyn was here. Peg’s calf was
born.
Apr 9...We ground feed. I ironed.
Apr 10...Cold. We cleaned cellar. Keenan was here. I washed my hair & made
donuts.
Apr 11...Snowy & windy. We went to Pierce & got groceries. I patched, cleaned
on the cellar.
Apr 12...Awful windy. I patched, made a pie. Kenneth played the trumpet in
Greeley.

came & traded guns. Showed tricks.

Jul 14...We went to see Sissy. Bought a mattress & some things. Sold eggs and

hospital.

dinner. Cozads were here in the P.M.
Jul 23...We hoed in the garden. I made a cake.
Jul 24...We went to Art’s funeral in Greeley. Got material for Mary & Gladys a
dress apiece.
Jul 25...Hot. I washed on the front porch. Made pies. They had trouble with the
binder.
Jul 26...Hot. We ironed. I patched.
Jul 27...I patched & hoed in the garden. Harold & Shirley were here for supper.
Went to 14 with Doyle.
Jul 28...They started combining. I made raised donuts. We went to Nunn &
Pierce.

Luther & Myrna were here.
Jul 30...We moved the book case. I made Gladys a dress. It rained & the wind
blew.
Jul 31...I washed my bed spread, cut Gladys out a yellow dress.
Aug 1...I made most of Gladys’s dress and her a maroon skirt. Harold & S were
here awhile.

Aug 5 (Sunday)...Mary made a mess with her 4H cakes. We picked cherries.
Went to Heplers. Took Mary to Buchanans.
Aug 6...We fixed cherries for the locker. I went to 14 & to Pierce & Nunn. They
cut wheat on 14.
Aug 7...Rainy. I made jelly. Done ½ the ironing.
Aug 8...Mary went to the 4H fair. I ironed & made jelly. Helpers brot the scales
home.
Aug 9...I sewed.
Aug 10...I sewed. They took a lunch. We went up to Hobarts awhile.
Aug 11...We went to Ault & I put $75 in the bank. Went to see Shirley. Made a
cake.
Aug 12 (Sunday)...Harold & Shirley came for dinner at 1. Keenan & Dorothy &
Buchanans were here in the eve.
Aug 13...I washed. It rained several times. Marilyn came up & they made bears. I
picked garden beans.
Aug 14...Erlene brot me a bu. of beans. I canned __ qts. Mary made a frog.

Aug 15...We went to Erlene’s garden and got beans. We took Mrs. Hobarts.
Aug 16...We all went to Greeley. Took Bobbie and Gladys to the hosp. I stayed at
Lila’s.
Aug 17...Lila took me to the hosp. to see the kids. Doyle came down. Saw Shirley
at the hosp. I came home.
Aug 18...I canned beans. We went to see Virgie, out to Mildreds.
Aug 19...We went to Greeley & got the kids out of the hosp. Keenan was here.

Aug 23...Doyle, Ken & Fred took two of Kenneth’s pigs to the sale. Got a bu. of
peaches. We canned beans.
Aug 24...We canned peaches in the A.M. and washed in the P.M. the machine
went haywire. Finished at 9.
Aug 25...We cleaned house. Went to Pierce & got groceries. Marilyn was here.
Aug 26...Shirley & Ollie & Ronnie came for dinner. Delmer & Lucille came & got
K’s pigs. Ronnie stayed.
Aug 27...I canned 15 qt. of beans, 3 pt. of corn. I ironed some.
Aug 28...I made Bobbie’s cake. I ironed, patched and hoed in the garden.
Aug 29...Bobbie & I cleaned the pullet pens. I canned 6 pt of corn & 9 qt of
beans. It rained.
Aug 30...I canned corn. Nathan was here. I mopped.
Aug 31...We got started to Greeley about noon, took Ronnie to the bus. Got Mary
2 good dresses. Sold cream.
Sep 1...I picked beans and took Mrs. Hobart a bucket of beans. Went to Pierce &
got groceries.
Sep 2 (Sunday)...Doyle took the kids to SS. We went to Myrna’s.
Sep 3...Rainy & foggy. The kids started to school. We went out to see Mrs.
Frantz.
Sep 4...Foggy. We went to Greeley and paid Dr. Barber. Got Gladys’s pj’s. Took
Lila a hen.
Sep 5...I washed. Made Mary a birthday cake.
Sep 6...I picked garden beans, canned 15 qt.

Sep 16...Doyle, Fred & K went to Harolds and put on wall board. I had a stomach
ache.
Sep 17...I went down in the field & got corn & canned 18 pt. Had a stomach ache
all day.
Sep 18...K. never went to school. I canned sweet corn. Mrs. Anderson was here.
Sep 19...We took cream to Greeley, got 4 bu. o f peaches & pears. Doyle & Fred
went to Farm Bureau.
Sep 20...Doyle went to Greeley & got 2 bu. of tomatoes. He took me to a PTC
meeting. I rode home on the bus.
Sep 21...Snowed last nite. Cold & cloudy. I canned tomatoes. Made Gladys’s
yellow blouse.
Sep 22...I canned 23 qt. of peaches. Mopped. We butchered a hog.
Sep 23...I made lite bread. We went to Sarah’s awhile. Sat around & read paper.
Sep 24...I canned tomatoes & peaches. Helped Mrs. Hobart can tomatoes.

Sep 25...I done a big washing. Doyle took Mary to Marilyn’s. They went to a ball
game. We went to Erlene & Jim’s.
Sep 26...Windy. I canned corn. Put clothes away.
Sep 27...I ironed 4-1/2 hrs. They cut corn.
Sep 28...I cleaned house all day. Mopped & washed windows. Doyle took kids to
the freshman dance.
Sep 29...Doyle took us to Greeley & we got permanents. Shirley & Harold were
here and left the kids.
Sep 30...Kept Shirley’s kids. Myrna & fam. were here. Harold & S brot Bobbie
home.
Oct 1...Warm. We hauled millet from Harry’s. I made me 2 aprons. We went to
PTC. Kenneth stayed home.
Oct 2...Windy. I went to Pierce to a PTC meeting at the school house.
Oct 3...I washed. Mopped.
Oct 4...We went to Greeley & got my drivers license, a bu. of tomatoes. & apples.
Oct 5...It rained & snowed all day. We went to the pancake feed.
Oct 6...We went to 14 and pumped water. On to Pierce. I made a cake &
mopped.
Oct 7...We went to S.S., Keenans and Hazel & Harry were here in the eve.
Oct 8...I went to dinner with Erlene & Jim. Went out to the folks. Got home at
5:30.
Oct 9...We worked on the car. Keenan came. I made Gladys 2 blouses.
Oct 10...I dressed 5 fryers. Mrs. Giffin came & got them. We dressed 7 fryers
after supper.
Oct 11...We took chickens to Kala & Aunt Lena. We went to Greeley & to the
sale.
Oct 12...I washed. Had to bring in the old machine. Nice day. Carol Smith stayed
till Mrs. S. brot Kenneth home.

Oct 13...I went to Nunn & took chickens to Mrs. Nofzinger & Mrs. ...I cleaned
house & made pies.
Oct 14 (Sunday)...We went to S.S. & church with Erlene. Frank & Phyllis came
up & left Jim and the baby.
Oct 15...I done Jo’s washing. Doyle & Jim went to 14 and Nunn. Ins. salesman
was here.
Oct 16...I ironed about ½ the ironing.
Oct 17...I done baby washing. We took eggs to Pierce. Mrs. Weber paid me
$6.25.
Oct 18...Doyle & Jim went to Greeley & got apples. I cleaned house & patched.
Oct 19...I done Jo’s washing. Erlene was here. I made Jo a new dress. Kenneth
went to a hay ride. Never came home.
Oct 20...Mrs. Smith brought Kenneth home. We cleaned 2 hens. Doyle & K went
to town.
Oct 21...It snowed all day. I done baby washing.
Oct 22...Thawed. I made Jo a dress. Geraldine came home with Mary.
Oct 23...I washed a big wash and I mopped. Doyle got the car together and
started.
Oct 24...Doyle took Jo & I to Sarah’s. We went to Pierce & got groceries.
Oct 25...I done the ironing. Done baby washing.
Oct 26...Rainy and snowy. We went to Greeley after dinner. The car broke down.
Shirley drug us home.
Oct 27...Harold and S. came up. Doyle cut up their elk. I done Jo’s wash. Had a
headache. Jimmy cried last nite and till noon with a toothache.
Oct 28 (Sunday)...Nice day. The kids went to S.S. with Erlene. We went up to
see Hobarts. Marilyn B. was here.
Oct 29...I done baby wash. Helped Doyle haul in millet and thresh it.
Oct 30...I patched and washed windows.

Nov 1...It snowed all day. I sewed & cut out my suit.
Nov 2...I done baby wash. 12° below last nite. Sewed on my suit.
Nov 3...We cleaned house. Went to Pierce & Nunn in the P.M. Doyle & K went to
Hobarts. Sewed.
Nov 4 (Sunday)...Doyle took the kids to S.S. Harold & S. & Keenan were here.
Kenneth Smith was here for dinner.
Nov 5...I done a big wash. The machine balked. We all went to PTC to hobby
night.
Nov 6...I ironed all afternoon.
Nov 7...Nice day. Done baby wash & patched.
Nov 8...Ken & Doyle took 5 hogs to the sale & got groceries.
Nov 9...Nice day. I done baby washing. We fixed the chicken house roof.
Nov 10...I done baby washing. Mopped all 4 rooms. Cleaned house.
Nov 11 (Sunday)...Doyle took the kids to S.S. Frank & Phyllis were suppose to
come. Stockams were here in the P.M.
Nov 12... I done baby washing. Scrubbed the book case.
Nov 13...Awful windy. I made a cake.
Nov 14...I done baby washing. Mary stayed with Geraldine. We butchered old
Lover Boy.
Nov 15...We cut up some meat. I rendered lard. Made Jo a pink dress.
Nov 16...I done baby washing. We cut up meat. Doyle & the boys went to the
carnival. I stayed home.
Nov 17...Lois came after Jerry. I done baby washing, cleaned house.
Nov 18...Nice day. The came & got JoLara and Jimmy. Harolds were here for
dinner. Cozads & Keenans were here.

Nov 20...We hauled & threshed millet. Cured meat. We went to Nunn & Pierce.
Nov 21...Nice day. We raked oats & put meat in brine. Cleaned house.
Nov 22...Harold & Shirley & Eston came for dinner. Doyle sold a load of junk.
Nov 23...They went to 14 & loaded cattle. I fixed the art quilt. Finished the
ironing.
Nov 24...Cold. Doyle & the girls went to 14 & to Ault. I made pies. We butchered
a hog for Prange.
Nov 25...They went to 14. I dressed 2 fryers. Ken went to Boulder with B’s. We
went to Hobarts.
Nov 26...Nice day. We delivered the hog. Helped Troy load cows. Threshed
barley & ground feed.
Nov 27...Doyle went to a sale. I still felt bad. I patched, washed plastic curtains &
read some.
Nov 28...I washed. We threshed barley on Harry’s.
Nov 29...I went to the school house to see Gladys examine. We threshed the rest
of the barley.
Nov 30...We went to Greeley & got a 1937 Plymouth. I drove it home.
Dec 1...We delivered hens to Nunn. Went to Ault. I made donuts in the eve.
Dec 2...The girls & I went to see Mildred’s baby. The wind came up.
Dec 3...We hauled straw from Harry’s & oat hay. Went to the cake walk, won 2
cakes.
Dec 4...Windy. We went to Greeley. I done some Xmas shopping.
Dec 5...Cold & Snowy. I felt bad. I ironed all afternoon.
Dec 6...Cold and windy. We went to Cozad’s. Stayed for dinner. I finished
ironing.
Dec 7...Doyle went after a combine. Cold. The patrolman was here. I sewed on
doll clothes.

Dec 8...We all went to Greeley Xmas shopping. Got a tree.
Dec 9...We got up early & went to Denver. Had dinner with the folks. Blew a head
gasket. Got home at 5:15.
Dec 10 (Sunday)...Nice day. We went to S.S. and Erlene & kids stayed for
dinner. We went to Ft. Collins and thru the sugar factory.
Dec 11...I ironed. We brot the combine home. Hauled a load of straw.
Dec 12...Nice day. We went to a farm sale west of Ault. I got up at 4 to iron.
Dec 13...We went to Greeley. Finished my shopping. Came home thru a terrible
snow storm.
Dec 14...Awful cold. I dressed 6 chickens for Elliott. Cozads brot our table over.
Dec 15...We cleaned house. Made mincemeat. Doyle & Kenneth went to Nunn.
Dec 16...Pansy had her calf last nite. Doyle took the kids to S.S. Harolds were
here awhile. Wrapped pkgs.
Dec 17...Windy. I made doll clothes. Worked with floor tiles.
Dec 18...Went to Greeley & got linoleum paste. I went to a meeting on Bobbie’s
party.
Dec 19...We took a load of poles to 14. Awful cold. We set up late, helping the
gilt with her pigs.
Dec 20...20° below. We worked till noon getting the car started. I cleaned house.
Dec 21...Rosebud’s pigs were born. Snowed and blowed. We built on the hog
house. I went to school to help give the 4th grade a party.
Dec 22...We cleaned house. We went to Myers and got a truck. Took Mary to
Buchanans and Gladys to a S.S. party at Pierce.
Dec 23 (Sunday)...Doyle took the kids to S.S. We went to see Jewel. Mary
stayed with Marilyn.
Dec 24...We went to 14 & Nunn & Pierce. I made pies. Lois came after 2 rabbits.
Dec 25...Nice day. We stayed home. Keenan & Dorothy were here, brot some
gifts.

Dec 26...I washed. Doyle a quarter of beef from Hobarts. We went to Hobarts &
stayed till 11:30.
Dec 27...Rosa’s pigs were born. Harold & Shirley were here till 9:30. They picked
corn.
Dec 28...Doyle & K went to a sale. I washed off the meat. Done most of the
ironing. Windy.
Dec 29...It rained & snowed. I made a cake. Finished ironing. Cut up meat for the
locker.
Dec 30...Snowed last nite. We went to Harold’s and butchered their hogs.
Dec 31...We went to 14 & to Pierce. Got groceries. Went by Charley’s. They
butchered for Charley.
