Henry A. Wallace Award
This award was established in 1978 and is presented annually during Iowa State University's Homecoming
Weekend. This citation is intended to honor an Iowa State University alumnus who has made an outstanding
contribution to national or international agriculture in agricultural writing, teaching, research or leadership.
Emphasis is placed on the individual’s widespread influence on agriculture and the accomplishments may or may
not be within the State of Iowa. The recipient may or may not be a member or past member of the faculty of Iowa
State University. Selection is made by the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Henry A. Wallace was an alumnus of the College of Agriculture, class of 1910, who achieved prominence as
editor of Wallace’s Farmer, a paper founded by his grandfather. He served as Secretary of Agriculture and as
Vice President of the United States during the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The award will be a plaque bearing the name of the recipient.
