Dear J.P. LICKS,
Our names are Courtney Cooke and Angela Griswold. We are volunteers with the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) for
the Somerville Family and Community Connections (SFCC). After visiting your Davis Square store on May 11 and
speaking to manager Mike Collins, we were advised to email this address. We are writing to ask if you would be willing
to donate some of your amazing ice cream to our upcoming local family event: a free concert for children in Somerville
aged 0-5 and their families.
The June 18 concert will feature two local musicians singing songs for children and finish with Grooversity which includes
Somerville High School drumming students. We have included links to the artist websites at the bottom of the page for
your information. This event is a great way to introduce and highlight your products to area moms, dads, and kids. It will
be held rain or shine Saturday, June 18 from 3-5 pm at the Arthur Healy School, 5 Meacham Street, Somerville. The focus
of the event will be music, but craft projects and face painting are also available. The entire event is planned and paid
for by volunteers and donations raised by the PAC. We thought that ice cream from J.P. LICKS would be a special treat
for our families. We're expecting approximately 100-200 families (around 200 children), but anything you might be able
to give would be much appreciated.
At the end of May we will begin posting fliers and posters to advertise the event. We would include J.P. LICKS ice cream
on all publicity material. We distribute and post fliers in playgrounds, supermarkets, libraries, community notice boards,
daycare centers and nursery schools. We also send the flier to over 200 families on our email mailing list and advertise
on the Somerville Yahoo Moms email list, an online community of approximately 2000 local families. Because we would
like to include J.P. LICKS on our promotional material, we would appreciate a response as quickly as possible (before
May 20).
Let me provide more information about SFCC and the PAC. Our goal is to support parents and caregivers as they raise,
nurture and educate children. SFCC is supported by the Somerville Public Schools and funded by the Mass. Dept. of Early
Education and Care and through donations. Our tax ID number is 046001414. We provide playgroups, parent
workshops and special events free to Somerville families. The Somerville Public School is revamping its website, but you
might visit http://www.somerville.k12.ma.us/sfn to get a sense of the services provided. As with many services, the
program recently received cuts in funding and so help from the community is even more essential.
Thank you very much for considering this request. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Courtney Cooke and Angela Griswold
