Dear First Grade and Second Grade Families,
As I mentioned to you during my Back to School Night video, students in grades K-2 are
participating in a RTI Block each morning. I am thrilled to inform you that it started today.
The students will be meeting from 9:00-9:30 each morning. On Monday through Thursday, the
students will be meeting in one of two settings. The students may be in a “cycle” class focusing on a
specific topic. This will be an opportunity for the students to synthesize their learning through an
integrated, cross curricular focus. This directly supports our school-wide Wildly Important Goal
(WIG): Synthesize Subjects 4 Student Success. Other students may be working in an intervention
group which will be focused on the students’ specific needs in the area of reading. All students will
meet in a cycle class on Fridays for a project based activity. Ask you child where they worked today.
Approximately every 20 school days, the groups will rotate to a new cycle class or new intervention skill.
