Continental signed a collaboration agreement with the
University “1 Decembrie” from Alba Iulia

Together with the University, Continental Sibiu aims to develop programs for
students and technical courses and plans to invest in equipments and laboratories.
Sibiu, February 19th, 2014 - Continental Automotive Systems Sibiu, part of Continental
Corporation, one of the biggest automotive suppliers worldwide, signed a collaboration agreement
with “1 Decembrie“ University from Alba Iulia. The event brought together the company
representatives: Oswald Kolb – General manager, Lăcrămioara Dărăban – Human resources
manager, Bernhard Ratajczak – Finance manager and Liviu Bălan, Head of R&D Sibiu. From the
Universities’ side participated tot the event: Prof. dr. Daniel Breaz – Rector of the University, Prof.
dr. Moise Ioan Achim – Vice rector, Conf. dr. Maria Popa – Dean of the Science Faculty and Conf.
dr. Ioan Ienciu – Head of Science and Engineering Department.
Beside the signing of the contract, the agenda of the event included the organization of an
honorary senate meeting in order celebrate the nomination of Mr. Liviu Bălan, from Continental
Sibiu, member of honor of the University senate.
This partnership aims to familiarize the students with the automotive field and facilitate their access
to new technologies. Other purposes are: the development of internship programs, tutorial and
mentoring activities for diploma projects, exchange of best practices, equipping the laboratories,
common research activities, organization of conferences and workshops with the participation of
company’s specialist.

to collaborate with the universities. With this investment we want to contribute to the further
development of the „1 Decembrie“ University and give the students‘ the chance to work with State
of the Art equipment and get in touch with the newest technologies used in automotive products.”

At Continental Sibiu are produced and developed electronic control units for the automotive
industry. There are more than 2700 employees, out of which 760 de engineers, both in production

highschools from Sibiu. The collaboration with Alba Iulia University comes in the context of further
growing plans, that the company has for the next years.
