Continental Automotive Systems has opened a new
laboratory at the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu


Continental Automotive Systems has opened a new electronics laboratory,
worth more than 35.000 Euro at the Faculty of Engineering of Sibiu
Between 2013 and 2016 the company is planning on investing 150.000 into
the Faculty of Engineering of Sibiu. The money is going to be used for
technical equipment and laboratories destined for students practical work
Sibiu, March 11, 2014 – Continental Automotive Systems Sibiu, a subsidiary of the Continental
Corporation, one of the top manufacturers in the automotive industry, has invested in the
renovation and equipage of an electronics laboratory, a part of the Faculty of Engineering of
Sibiu. The amount of money invested goes up to 35.000 euro.
The Opening Ceremony of the new laboratory coincided with the organization of a meeting
between the representatives of the company and the representatives of the University, on the
one hand, and with the students of Computer Science, Information technology, Applied
Electronics on the other hand. As part of the meeting , various subjects were discussed such as
the Summer Internship, a program developed by Continental, the opportunities, given by the
company to advance in a career and the presentation of the new e-recruiting smart tool: IBM
Kenexa.
Representatives of Continental at the event were: Lăcrămioara Dărăban – Human Resource
Manager, Liviu Bălan – coordinater of research and development, Andrei Luca and Georgiana
Brădescu – members of the Employer Branding, Recruitment & Communication Team. On the
part of the University the event was attended by Prof.Univ.Dr.Ing Liviu Roșca - dean of the
faculty of Engineering, Prof. Univ. Dr. Ing. Maria Vințan - deputy dean of the Faculty of
Engineering, Prof. Univ. Dr. Ing. Adrian Pascu - deputy dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof.
Univ. Dr. Ing. Ioan P. Mihu P, Prof. Univ. Drd. Ing. Emanoil Toma.

The results can be seen, looking at the number of engineers in our location that have come as
part of the ULBS, it’s up to 60% these days. With the high-tech facilities of the Continental
laboratories within the University and with the student programs, which are prepared through
specialized courses, internships and thesis for a degree, we offer the students various
possibilities to develop their abilities. As well, we are continuing to play an active role with the
University and we see in ULBS a strategic partner for the future”, declared Oswald Kolb,
