1. Water Works
ANY AGE
Duration: 14 days.
Number of trips: Two trips (one a year until end of 2013)
Activity: Take part in the construction of a life-saving water system designed with the environment in
mind and reliant only on renewable energy. Install a new gravity-fed or solar powered water supply
system for a community on the island of Tanna in Southern Vanuatu
Sightseeing: See the fiery at spectacular Yassur Volcano at night, go horse riding, swimming and
snorkeling to see beautiful coral and tropical fish.
Estimated cost per person: $1900 - $2500* (incl: flights, food, accommodation, transport, etc)

CAMBODIA
2. Kompong Thom Pre-School Development
ANY AGE + BUILDER + Early Childhood workers
Duration: 10 day trip. Between November 2012 – April 2013 (preferred time would be November to
February due to drier cooler weather).
Number of trips: one – two trips per year.
Activity: Take part in supporting a community in the construction of a pre-school building and
appropriate play equipment. Additional training on innovative new activity ideas for local staff could
be included.
Sightseeing: Experience the city of Siem Reap, and explore the ruins of Angkor Wat, visit the sobering
Genocide Museum and the beautiful Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, or taste adventure at the ADRA
Adventure Learning Centre (www.adracambodia.org/projects/adventure.html).
Estimated cost per person: $2400 - $3200* (incl: flights, food, accommodation, transport, etc)
Project cost: $14,300-18,000 for both building and equipment.

3. Kompong Sanitation and Latrine Promotion
ANY AGE + BUILDER
Duration: 10 day trip. Between November 2012 – April 2013 (preferred time would be November to

Number of trips: one – two trips per year.
Activity: Support the health of both the very young children, and the elderly in a community by
building household and or school based water sealed latrines. Enjoy being able to teach people in the
community about the importance of health and hygiene messages with fun-filled games and
activities.
Sightseeing: Experience the city of Siem Reap, and explore the ruins of Angkor Wat, visit the sobering
Genocide Museum and the beautiful Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, or taste adventure at the ADRA

VIETNAM
4. Sanitation in Tay Ninh schools/kindergartens
ANY AGE + BUILDER
Duration: 10 day trip. September – December 2012 and 2013
Number of trips: Two trips, one each year.
Activity: Children from Vietnam love going to school and kindergarten. But many of them go to
schools which do not have proper toilets, a big problem for all children, and particularly for girls. You
can make a difference by building school toilet blocks, and make sure children can not only learn but
stay healthy too. You will also have the opportunity to help kids learn about health and hygiene in a
fun filled way. You can share with them some of the games that New Zealand kids love playing at
school too!
Sightseeing: Take a boat ride on the famous Mekong Delta, experience the Cu Chi tunnels, visit the Cao Dai
Temple in Tay Ninh or explore Phu Quoc Island

NEPAL
5. Be the First Tourist
ANY AGE
Duration: 13-25 days, with 7 days for group activity orientation, 4 days travelling, 2-14 days social
activities
Number of trips: one trip per year in 2012 and 2013
Activity: Take part in the construction of a tourist facility that has never had a tourist. Educate local
residents on basic ‘tourist English’ with awareness on how to work with tourists. Support ADRA’s
local partner to support the introduction of ‘Sustainable Tourism’ in existing ADRA project

communities. Potential activities include: digging, carrying supplies, piping, building, painting and
some basic education.
Sightseeing: Take in the beautiful local sights, enjoy whitewater rafting, keep fit while tramping,
kayaking, hand-gliding through awesome Pokhara, or experience a jungle safari, elephant ride, and
culture show in the famous Chitwan National Park.

THAILAND
6. Providing water supply systems for ex-opium enslaved communities
ANY AGE + BUILDER
Duration: 12-18 days.
Number of trips: one trip per year in 2012 and 2013
Activity: Visit the remote area of Om-Koi near Chiang Mai to help communities, which are struggling
to become free from the devastating effects of opium, construct gravity fed water supply systems.
Your team will be helping free up the time it takes for women and girls to collect and transport water
long distances to their houses.
Sightseeing: Visit the night markets in beautiful Chiang Mai, and enjoy the views while riding an
elephant. Travel by train from Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya, Thailand’s ancient capital, experience the
white sands of Thailand’s Phuket beaches.

7. Protecting Albinos from the sun
ANY AGE + BUILDER
Duration: 10 days.
Number of trips: Four – Six trips (2-3 trips a year until the end of 2013).
Activity: Construct a shaded playground for albino school children - protecting them from the deadly
rays of the harsh African sun. Your team will be helping to protect some of the most vulnerable
people on earth.
Sightseeing: Go on an overnight Safari tour and see Africa’s world famous big Five.
