Cooling and Warming Shelters
Shelters may be opened in extreme weather conditions, such as excessive heat or cold, or long-term power outages.
If an emergency occurs and you need to be sheltered, please listen to local authorities on which shelters have been
opened. You can find out which shelters are open by visiting the town website at www.fairfieldct.gov or by listening
to your local media. This information may also be communicated via Fairfield’s emergency notification system.
The opening of a shelter is determined based on the number of people that need to be sheltered and the type and
location of the emergency.
