Guidelines for Transfer Credit

Cornerstone Preparatory Academy accepts application for transfer credit from any student who is currently enrolled at Cornerstone or who is entering Cornerstone for the first time. The application will be reviewed and approved by the Academic Advisor and Academic Dean before credit will be granted. Please review the procedures for acceptance of transfer credit and submit an application accordingly. ( Simply turning in an application for transfer credit does not ensure approval .) The class submitted for transfer MUST be equivalent in content, level, and rigor offered by Cornerstone Prep.

I.

Students transferring credit(s) from a nationally accredited high school

A.

The student must have a final grade of 74 percent or higher.

B.

Submit an official transcript from the school where the student received the actual credit.

II.

Students transferring credit(s) from a regionally accredited high school

III.

Students transferring credit(s) from a private unaccredited high school (with the same level of academic rigor, as determined by our Academic Office)

A.

The student must have a final grade of 74 percent or higher.

B.

Submit an official transcript from the school where the student received the actual credit.

C.

Student will be required to take an EOCT for core subjects and may be required to do so for specific electives.

A.

An official grade report (e.g. Jupiter Grades or Engrade) must be submitted that includes grades for each lesson, homework assignment, project, quiz, test, and final exam taken. The student must have a final grade of 74 percent or higher.

B.

The student must have used a standard high school level textbook or online equivalent

(please provide course title, source name, contact information, and site address). A fill-inthe-blank workbook approach will not be acceptable.

C.

Submit the results of all evaluations including closed book tests and quizzes, essays, completed projects, research papers, etc.

D.

The results of an end-of-course cumulative exam must be submitted. A grade of 74 percent or higher is required for transfer credit approval.

E.

The student must have received an equivalent amount of time with the instructor as a student who is enrolled in a Cornerstone course would. Each Cornerstone student receives three hours of direct instruction per week and at least two hours of outside time for a total of five hours per week. [75 hours to receive .5 units (one semester) or 150 hours to receive one unit (full year).]

All transfer credit requests will be reviewed on an individual basis. Approved transfer credits will be added to a student’s transcript upon completion of one full year of classes at Cornerstone and completed registration for the following school year. While credit may be granted for transferred courses, the academy will only recognize actual course grades earned at nationally accredited institutions.

 Each application must include documentation of the student’s work in order to process the application.

Cornerstone Prep may request additional documentation for this course.

Although Cornerstone may accept this course for diploma credit, Cornerstone is not in a position to validate this course for any other educational institution.
