CORNERSTONE SCHOOLS OF ALABAMA COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
Local School Celebrates Historic Year by Graduating First Senior Class
Birmingham, AL- Cornerstone Schools of Alabama is holding a Commencement
Ceremony for their first graduating senior class on Monday, May 18 at 6:00pm at the
Alys Stephens Center.
In the fall of 2014 Cornerstone Schools of Alabama fulfilled a long time goal of
serving Birmingham’s high school aged children. A non-profit dedicated to serving
children whose families have limited school choice, Cornerstone Schools has served
children in prekindergarten through 8th grade for 23 years. This is the first year that
the school has expanded to 9-12th grade students. “We have been overwhelmed
with the positive support of the Birmingham community in response to the high
school opening. Our Learning community would like to thank Birmingham for our
success,” says Cornerstone Schools President, Dr. Nita Carr.
The graduating class of 2015 consists of 10 students; all of who have been accepted
into four-year colleges and have plans to attend college in the fall. The
Commencement speaker will be Lightfoot, Franklin, & White attorney, Elizabeth
Huntley.
