Pope Saint John Paul II was a poet and playwright
This beautiful poem written by our new Saint speaks of
Jesus Christ, the cross, and “the source and summit of the
Christian faith” – the Holy Eucharist.
The Place Within
“My place is You, your place is in me. Yet it is the place of
all men. Am I not diminished by them in this place. I am
more alone – more than if there were no one else – I am
alone with myself. At the same time I am multiplied by
them in the Cross which stood on this place. This
multiplying with no diminishment remains a mystery: the
Cross goes against the current. In it numbers retreat before
man.
In You – how did the Cross come to be?
Now let us walk down the narrow steps as if down a
tunnel through a wall. Those who once walked down the
slope stopped at the place where now there is a slab. They
anointed your body and then laid it in a tomb. Through
your body you had a place on earth, the outward place of
the body you exchanged for a place within [emphasis mine],
saying: ‘Take, all of you, and eat of this.’
The radiation of that place within relates to the outward
places on Earth to which I came on pilgrimage. You chose
this place centuries ago – the place in which You give
yourself and accept me.”

Religious Education Corner
Classes Resume This Week!
Religious Education is off to a good start. The children
are learning about the Rosary and the Blessed Mother
as well as leading us in prayer at 10am before Holy
Mass.
Parents, please lead by example. Share your children
with the Lord at Holy Mass every Sunday. Remember
that it was He who blessed you with the gift of your
children. The best way to keep love is to yield to the
One who is love, God.
Father Paul Desmarais will be here in our Parish
October 26th at 9am in the church to speak about the
“spirit world”. Father Paul is pastor of St. Mary’s Parish
and St. James chapel. Everyone is invited to listen to
Father Paul in the church with the Religious Education
students.
• Harvest Bazaar
We are still in need of items for all of our booths. We
could use more donations of wine, canned goods, items
for Granma’s Attic, Crafts, and Penny social. Please
continue to drop off donations at the rectory. Also,
kindly remember to send in your raffle money and
ticket stubs. Thank you!
• All Souls Day
All souls Day envelopes are now in the back of the
church. Please write names of your dearly departed on
the back side and return with the collection. The
envelopes will be kept on the altar for November, the
Month of All Souls, so that we can offer their names
during our Holy Masses. During this month we
remember the dead especially on All Souls Day. Since
November 1st falls on Saturday this year it is not a Holy
Day of Obligation.
• Our Lady of Czenstochowa
Our Lady of Czenstochowa Parish will hold its annual

and American food will be served from 11:30am for as
long as it lasts. Frozen Polish food will also be available
from 9am until it is gone. There will also be raffles,
crafts, games, sweets and more.
• SPRED
SPRED is currently on a mission to seek new catechists
to become involved with serving the spiritual needs of
persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities,
ages six through adulthood.
We have a SPRED center at this parish which we are
hoping to be able to re-open again this year but
without more special friends and catechists this will not
be able to happen. So I am asking if anyone of you
know of someone who can benefit from SPRED or if
you have a calling in your heart to share one night a
week to be a catechist, please call Shirley Woodward at
(401)392-8470 or Dorothy Langford at (401)323-4091.

• A Joke To Make You Smile
A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest were out for a
Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane.
Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble. In spite of
the best efforts of the pilot, the plane started to go
down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled
to the passengers that they had better jump, and then he
bailed out.
Unfortunately, there were only three parachutes
remaining. The doctor grabbed one and said "I'm a
doctor, I save lives, so I must live," and jumped out.
The lawyer then said, "I'm a lawyer and lawyers are the
smartest people in the world. I deserve to live." He also
grabbed a parachute and jumped.
The priest looked at the little boy and said, "My son, I've
lived a long and full life. You are young and have your
whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live
in peace."
The little boy handed the parachute back to the priest
and said, "Not to worry, Father. The smartest man in the
world' just took off with my back pack."
