Description
FlexEnergy Energy Systems Inc., an innovator in environmentally friendly microturbines and recuperators, has a need for a
Manufacturing Engineer III. Organization is a fast-paced, innovative company developing and marketing clean energy technology.
Position demands commitment to personal safety, ethical and legal standards. The incumbent will play a key role in support the
relocation effort as well as provide manufacturing support to the existing assembly operations during the same time period. This
position requires creative, analytical and developmental thinking. Designing, planning, documenting, implementing, optimizing,
testing and supervising the manufacturing processes are all key requirements of this job. The manufacturing engineer will be
involved all stages of the product assembly and test. Communication with workers involved in all stages of manufacture is essential,
both verbally and written. Enthusiasm, cooperation, and a positive outlook as well as a thorough understanding of the technology
and manufacturing concepts involved is important, as is the ability to prioritize.
Highlights of Responsibilities:
1.
Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design,
fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
2. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
3. Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
4. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and
established procedures; requesting special service
5. Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing
production schedules; estimating future requirements.
6. Conducts time studies of manufacturing operations and calculate Takt times
7. Evaluates assembly operations and determine tools required
8. Designs special tools to reduce assembly time
9. Documents assembly procedures and processes
10. Works with Quality Team to resolve manufacturing issues
11. Works with Engineering Design Teams to improved manufacturability of product
12. Works with planners and buyers to ensure correct flow of material
Critical Competencies / Experience:








Documentation of processes and equipment configurations
Experience is complex mechanical assembly processes
Experience with lifting and rigging large objects
Knowledge of mechanical electronic control systems
Knowledge of assembly processes and quality systems
Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels
Works well with assembly technicians to develop best practices
Comply with OSHA, EPA, other regulations and FlexEnergy housekeeping and safety rules applicable to job activities

Successful candidate must be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision, will ideally have operations experience or
experience working in a product assembly/manufacturing environment, good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Experience in quality assurance is a plus
Experience with complex assembly operations is a plus
Experience with power generator is desired
Prior experience with turbo machinery is highly desired
Prior experience moving complex equipment is highly desired

Qualifications and Requirements


Formal Education Requirement: Four - year Technical Degree or higher
Minimum Years of Experience Necessary:
o Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
o More than five years progressive experience as an engineer or production leader
o Must have experience working with technician level assemblers
