VOLUNTEER ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job title: Leisure Services Volunteer
Responsible to: Leisure Services Manager
Overall purpose of the role
To support the Leisure Services staff in the delivery of activities, and to assist club members to
participate in them. To adhere to the trust’s policies, procedures and standards, which include
confidentiality, health and safety procedures and the assessment of risk.
Role and Responsibilities
1. To assist members to participate in the club activities, promoting social interaction, personal
achievement, independence and social skills.
2. To be friendly, patient, have a commitment to attend regularly, be reliable, approachable and
be a good communicator at all levels.
3. Be aware of individuals needs, abilities, rights and choice, treat members with dignity and
respect.
4. To co-ordinate activities in consultation with staff and members to meet the needs of the
members and offer choice.
5. Assist in the maintenance of recording systems and ensure details are current and up to date.
6. To be aware of and follow policies and procedures including confidentiality, health and safety,
supervision, finances, Oaklea mission statement and the aims of the service.
7. To read and adhere to activity Risk Assessments and Individual Risk Assessments.#
8. To ask for assistance when needed, and to attend supervision sessions.
9. To take part in staff training as required.
10. To attend team meetings to aid the quality and development of the service provided.
11. To provide receipts in support of claims for out of pocket expenses, agreed with the Leisure
Services Manager.
12. To perform volunteer duties to the best of ability and to be professional at all times.
13. To give their time to the clubs on a regular basis to ensure quality and professionalism.
14. To promote a positive image of the trust and its services.
15. To notify staff if you are unable to attend or will be arriving later than you normally attend.
16. Work as a team, and support any other volunteers that require your assistance.
17. To carry out any other duties as required by the service and its managers.
