BEGINNERS 1 (A 1.1)

This course is aimed at students who have no previous knowledge of Spanish.

At the end of the course, students will be able to interact in a simple way, being able to ask and answer questions in areas of inmediate need or on very familiar topics. They will be able to

talk about themselves: name, job, nationality…

talk about their interests

talk about countries, their situation and the weather

ask for products in a shop

talk about likes and dislikes

talk about people, their personalities and their appearance

In the class there will be great emphasis on the spoken language, although students will be encouraged to do some written exercises based on the topics used in the class.

BEGINNERS 2 (A 1.2)

This course is aimed at students who have completed Beginners 1 or students who have very basic knowledege of the language.

By the end of the course students will have acquired level A1 (European Framewok for

Languages)

Once the course is completed students will be able to

talk about personal habits

to talk about food ad eating habits

to order food in a restaurant

to describe places and ask for directions in a new place

to talk about past experiences

to talk about skills

In the class there will be great emphasis on the spoken language, although students will be encouraged to do some written exercises based on the topics covered in the class.

INTERMEDIATE 1 (A 2.1)

This course is aimed at students who have completed Beginners 2 or equivalent (A1 level

– European Framework for Languages).

At the end of this course students will be able to:

describe and compare objects;

talk about the house and its rooms;

talk about the family and likeness amongst members of the family;

deal with invitations, introductions, greetings, ask for favours…;

talk about the time and timetables;

talk about past experiences;

talk about future projects;

talk about weight and measurements.

In class, there will be great emphasis on the spoken language, although students will be encouraged to do some written exercises based on the topics used in the class.

INTERMEDIATE 2 (A 2.2)

This course is aimed at students who have completed Intermediate or equivalent.

At the end of this course students will be able to:

narrate past stories using simple structuctures

talk about habits in the past

talk about their emotions

talk about their health

give advice

give basic instructions and commands

use conditional structures

formulate hipothesis ( seguramente/seguro que…..)

In class, there will be great emphasis on the spoken language, although students will be encouraged to do some written exercises based on the topics used in the class. By the end of this course, students will have acquired level A2 (European Framewok for Languages)

UPPER INTERMEDIATE 1 (B 1.1)

This course is aimed at students who have completed Intermediate 2 or equivalent (A2 level – European Framework for Languages).

At the end of this course students will be able to:

Express prohibition, obligation and impersonality

Deal with phone calls in different contexts (business, everyday situations…)

Use the reported speech

Use correctly direct and indirect object pronouns

Express themselves using complex structures that require the use of the

Subjunctive (ex. Me parece bien/mal + present Subjuntive; querer/pedir/exigir + present subjunctive; cuando + Subjunctive)

Tell jokes and talk about films using several connectors of speech

Use all past tenses (perfecto, indefinido, imperfecto, pluscuamperfecto) when telling a story

In class, there will be great emphasis on the spoken language, although students will be encouraged to do some written exercises based on the topics used in the class.
