KEN-ROCK SPORTS & RECREATION
“ZERO” Tolerance Parent Policy
Welcome to the Ken-Rock sports program. This program is designed to organize, teach, develop and
promote youth basketball. Ken-Rock basketball strives to be a character building organization that
recognizes the importance of emphasizing good sportsmanship. With this in mind, we have developed a
parent policy to help explain and clarify some of our team and league expectations, rules, and guidelines
directly related to parent conduct and playing time. This policy will support, but does not override our team
or Ken-Rock rules or regulations. We feel this policy will help inform everyone, in advance, what is
expected. This should make the season go much smoother and be more rewarding for everyone involved.
PLAYING TIME:
Each player present must be entered into the game in each half: Each player’s entry into the game must
consist of 4 consecutive minutes of play per quarter or 8 consecutive minutes of play per half (total of 16
minutes of play per game), unless the player is being disciplined by the manager or cannot play due to
injury or illness. In addition no player may play more than 24 minutes (3/4) of the game; the “maximum”
rule will be waived if a team has 6 or less eligible player(s) in attendance.
Late arriving players may be entered into the game providing they can meet the minimum playing
requirement of the half in which they arrived. However, the coach may opt not to allow a late player to
participate in that half.
The Head coach can be made available after practice to discuss your child’s skills and abilities, and what
they need to focus on to improve.
PARENT/SPECTATOR CONDUCT: Basketball
Ken-Rock basketball is responsible for the conduct of all fans and players within the program. Our
organization expects nothing but the best from our parents when it comes time to support the players,
including opponents. Failure to do so can damage the reputation of our basketball program, but more
importantly embarrass our families, friends, and the community. Remember, most of the pressure that is
put on your child comes from the parent. Please remember that these are your child’s games and not
yours. Make it so your child can be as proud of you as you are of them. Our job as a parent is to support
our kids, not create more pressure for them.
Unacceptable conduct can also result in expulsion from the league. It is also our job as parents to monitor
and report any unacceptable behavior during Ken-Rock basketball events.
**Please read the following guidelines and expectations of the “Zero” Tolerance Parent Policy
1. Profanity of any type will not be tolerated at any time.
2. Verbal threats or physical confrontations of any kind between parents, players, coaches,
officials, or fans (including the opposing coaches, fans, and players) will not be tolerated at
any time or any place
3. The use of alcohol is prohibited at all Ken-Rock Basketball events
As a Ken-Rock Basketball parent or guardian, I hereby recognize and fully understand the contents of this
contract. I also understand that this parent contract covers the entire Ken-Rock Basketball program. I will
support the “Zero” Tolerance Policy at all times and understand that parent conduct is a crucial ingredient
to the success of our program. I fully understand that violation of this policy may result in the
suspension or permanent removal of both me, and my child, for the Ken-Rock basketball program.
We are looking forward to a great season of Ken-Rock basketball.
