English 7 Component of Biome Project 2015-2016
Objectives: Organize and synthesize (put together) information related to biomes by:
1. Describing the biome and its features as detailed in your science rubric and
biome chart. This includes a sample of 15 evenly spaced points of data on the
biome’s average temperature for use in your math class.
2. Explain adaptations in your biome.
3. Develop a hypothesis about (1 or 2) plant and (1 or 2) animal adaptions (3 total) in
your biome.
4. Explain one or more issues your biome faces today (environmental issues/problems) and
how they impact your biomes and related adaptations.
5. Selecting reliable sources, citing them appropriately, and formatting your paper in the
MLA format.
The final paper should be completed around Tuesday, December 8, 2015. We will work
hard to make this happen.
The paper will be graded based on the objectives above and with the Pulaski County Public Schools
Grade 7 Rubric. More details will be added to the rubric to make the expectations clearer soon.
The research and paper should be developed with the objectives above in mind; we’re looking for
quality research, writing, and creativity in your data and hypotheses.
*Anyone reading your paper should be able to understand it in detail without having to look up
information anywhere else.
Sample Outline (Go for quality, not quantity of paragraphs!)
I. Overview of paper on biomes
II. Description of biome, locations, etc.
III, IV, and V. Adaptations and explanations (1 plant, 1 animal, and 1 of your choice for 3 total)
VI. Threats/challenges to your biome/plants/animals
VII. Closing (Use this to “tie up” the information in your paper and give the reader one new thought
to consider. Perhaps you could connect the information to other issues or events.)
